Just been praised by Local Authority Building Control for my 'professionalism' in providing clear and concise details to them, allowing them to approve my project much faster.

Building Control works best when users experience it as one connected journey, not a series of separate systems. Our May workshop in #Luton, uncovered further #findings about BC #website journeys and the relationship between RBCA's and LA's. shorturl.at/ZrhYn #UX #BuildingControl #LocalGov

This week, we will be sharing our work so far on various #metrics. From gathering to some of our outputs. Some ways we gathered metrics were: - #analysed Initial Notices by reviewing form fields and headlines - used #workshops to develop categories for time recording - reviewed customer journeys

#Data standards were initially low hanging fruit within #Discovery, however, they evolved to become a pivotal focus within #Alpha. There is so much variation in #workflows between the private and public sector. A lack of rich, real-time data creates blind spots for #policy makers.

#Building control works, but people make it work. In a recent workshop with #RBCA's, we saw how manual processes, PDFs and rekeying still dominate. The opportunity? Shared #datastandards and APIs to cut friction and errors, and free up time. Our #blog unpacks the insights: shorturl.at/GWOZI

This is a good example of how changes in one part of a system can have unintended consequences elsewhere. The case for better digital infrastructure, #datastandards, and streamlined processes becomes even stronger. #BuildingSafetyLevy #BuildingControl #LocalGovernment

#Discovery uncovered pain points. #Alpha uncovered impact. The direction is clear: - Move from 'documents to data' - Enable #interoperability - Improve #visibility for customers - #Design around real workflows

#Data standards = a shared structure for information 💻 Not PDFs/emails, but consistent, machine-readable data. Instead of re-keying data across systems, it flows once, reducing effort, and unlocking #interoperability across the sector. 🌐 #Unboxed has created our data model: shorturl.at/1CTrg

Our workshops with #LocalAuthorities, and with #RBCA's confirmed a key piece of insight: The solution shouldn't focus on one system or process, but the entire ecosystem. Fragmentation, duplication, poor visibility & inconsistent data repeat across every stage of BC. #Collaboration #Workshops

Alpha moved us from insight to testing. We ran research, prototyping and testing with councils, users and partners to turn Discovery into real, testable solutions. #DiscoverytoAlpha #Testing #Prototyping #Collaboration #LocalGovernment

One key theme we found when speaking to Building Control officers about improvements was back-office systems. Here are some of the insights that aided us in our understanding of where we needed to start to solve this issue. #BuildingControl #DigitalTransformation

Outdated systems, complex cost recovery mechanisms, and poor UX create barriers for all users. This is exactly why we are working hard on improving local authority building control services. Find out more about our project here: www.lambeth.gov.uk/better-faire...
