Good morning, take this bird! photo by me

Portrait oriented photo -- blue flinty sky behind a diagonal tangle of branches (upper right to lower left), and roughly in the center of that branch-tangle sits a proud-looking little bird (or "birb"). It is a rounded soft orb of a bird, basically a golf ball covered in downy feathers. The bird has tiny dark eyes, a little short sharp beak, and the hint of a golden-and-black stripe upon its inquisitive brow. It's a golden-crowned kinglet, of course, an itty-bitty mouse of a bird who hops frenetically from branch to branch via what can only be described as TELEPORTATION, thus making them impossible to photograph. Fiction, but a lot of the scenes and incidents happened. I was a security guard at a bus terminal when a young girl was almost kidnapped. I was homeless for a brief period. I took memories and real events and came up with this story.

Baby gar burps! The alligator gar (Atractosteus spatula) can gulp air into its vascularized swim bladder which functions like a low-efficiency lung. This permits them to thrive in low-oxygen water (hypoxic) that might suffocate other fish.

'Piña colada' is Spanish: piña = "pineapple", colada = "strained," as in 'colander'. Drink recipes mixing pineapple and coconut with rum go back to 1820, with Puerto Rican pirate Roberto Cofresí, but the drink got a big boost from 1954 invention of method of mass-producing 'coconut cream'.
