I can see that all those reference books are getting to me. Gonna take the day off now and try to save this another day 😤

The brown and green brush is a bit overwhelming when I’m trying to make this purple/blue hahah 😭💔 I’m gonna add more things and try to mute the colour somehow

I’ve been staying home for 2 days and my face complexion are looking better. Like am I allergic to people or something

LaweyD @😔 Hiatus @laweyd.bsky.social · 23h

I also have difficulty freehanding size differences on paper so some things end up too big/small which I don’t like 🤧 something I still need to work on in terms of traditional art but I think drawing grids helps so I’m working on that too

060

LaweyD @😔 Hiatus @laweyd.bsky.social · 23h

I could just freehand it, but these materials aren’t exactly cheap and I need to measure the whimsy precisely to my satisafaction

LaweyD @😔 Hiatus @laweyd.bsky.social · 23h

Growing up has been about eyeballing and draw until I remember it thru muscle memory but doing technical stuff saves my hand from hurting so I’ve been trying to work on that 🙂‍↔️

I’m only in the very early stages so it’s just been a lot of measuring but it’s taking shape 💃💃

a repeat pattern of fish in various sizes, shapes, and colors

a repeat pattern with robins, starlings, oranges, robin eggs, and blue flowers. they're all arranged in a diamond pattern.

a repeat pattern with persimmons, pomegranates, cranberries, holly leaves, and red ribbons. it has a dark background and the fruits look bright and glowy in comparison.

Finished poking 1000 holes and began counting and scattering around thinking I counted wrong, but they just gave me an extra paper

After pondering for half a day, I realized this is probably my first time staying home all day since I moved in half a year ago

I can feel that poking 2000 holes on previous papers are starting to pay off

060

Maybe will I will try and apply for a grant. Deadline is in 2 days tho and this isn’t really my best skill but well well 🥹 I mean it’s better try than not I guess 🥹

LaweyD @😔 Hiatus @laweyd.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

One thing I want to try is to try tree laser(?) cut a little shelf for prints/stickers. If it doesn’t work out I will use it as a spice shelf lol

LaweyD @😔 Hiatus @laweyd.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

Some copies also got damaged during shipping so I plan to take out the staples, copy out the damaged pages, and stitch them back again. think it would be sexy if I also copied out something nice on the tracing paper for the cover and maybe the back 💭

070

LaweyD @😔 Hiatus @laweyd.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

Not a lot of people have been buying it and I still have like 190 left idk 🤧 people tend to peek and put it back bc it’s easy to go through as it’s so short. So my plan is to restitch it and bedazzle it lol

160

LaweyD @😔 Hiatus @laweyd.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

I also bought some tracing paper to bookbind on my 24h comic from last year. Then I plan to riso print, cut and tape an enclosure to keep people away from peeking haha

Use reference. I’m serious. I get it that somehow you or someone convinced you that using reference is “cheating.” It’s not. You are just hindering yourself.

The company Kiru Made has been exploiting artists, and (before we knew that) we helped them with a convention shipment, and they’ve ignored the invoice and reminders for six months! Just shitty behavior all around, be sure to avoid them!

I love how they were crusading in that video's comments "we did NO such thing! This is all lies." and yet this type of stuff keeps coming out 😂 They really did expect artists to just be silent and take the abuse alone.
