I’m sure there will be plenty of hot takes about the latest Platner allegation, but this quote hit really close to home in a way that I know a lot of women related to.

I’m currently working to have DTE escalate the outages in our district that have restoration times that continue being pushed back. It’s unacceptable that folks have been without power for the entire weekend, & even more unacceptable that those homes won’t receive any meaningful reimbursement. 1/2

I was on site at Women’s Huron Valley Correctional facility visiting an incarcerated woman until after 7:00 P.M. last night. Earlier this afternoon, the Michigan Department of Corrections notified legislators that there has been another “unexpected” death that occurred early this morning. (1/4)

This sums up the problem with MDOC. They held a briefing with “interested” legislators regarding deaths in their facility. I was not informed, despite being in regular contact with MDOC, the women at WHV, and their loved ones. MDOC is more concerned with covering their bases than addressing issues.

Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee Republicans rescinded hundreds of millions of dollars in grants from projects that are already started. These programs help build housing, provide resources for infants, and offer after school programming for students. This is cruel, plain and simple.

An important thing to remember in light of SCOTUS’ ruling on gender affirming care for minors: it does not ban this care. It allows states to enact laws to ban it. Michigan does not have such a law, and gender affirming care should still be available. 🏳️‍⚧️
