Book 89 - Another fun ghost story from St. James! Love a good creepy house and the late 1980s time period. 📚💙

Book 88 - Randomly picked this up at a used bookstore in London a couple years ago. While I did get some references as I lived in London during many of the years he was writing about, I don’t know nearly enough about Iain Sinclair, his history, or his work to fully understand it. 📚💙

Book 87 - A classic from 1957 (this edition from 1961) that I picked up in a used bookstore in Plymouth, England two years ago from old bookseller who didn’t want to sell any books. A surprisingly modern read with a great narrator. 📚💙

Book 86 - It’s such a shame Haunt Publishing shut down earlier this year. I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read from them. This is a different kind of ghost story that explores a young woman’s research into a ghost that supposedly haunts her hometown. 💙📚

Book 84 - The other book I brought with me to NYC. Has a weird (and in my opinion) unnecessary gender-related twist near the end but otherwise a solid, creepy read. It was interesting to see what they took for the film versions and what they discarded (like that unnecessary twist). 💙📚

Book 80 - The last book from my August stack and the one that’s been on my TBR the longest! This is a sequel to The Family Upstairs and, while it’s described as a standalone, I think it does make more sense if you’ve read that one first. And both books are so twisty and fun. 📚💙

Book 77 - So I get Strand Bookstore’s quarterly mystery-themed Book Hookup box & the bonus book they toss in is always hit or miss. This was a miss for me, mainly because it’s not a mystery. It’s literary pseudo-autobiographical fiction. Not for me but maybe for someone else! 📚💙

Pleased to finally announce... Abdication, the last Southern Reach novel! Jeff Vandermeer's ABDICATION, the last novel in the Southern Reach series, in which an ornithologist exiled to a remote coast stumbles on a terrifying secret, a self-proclaimed king pursues a mystery hidden in a strange weather station, and a man who can become a cormorant is tasked with a deadly mission through a future landscape transformed by Area X, for publication in October 2027, in a significant deal, to Jenna Johnson at Farrar, Straus, by Joseph Veltre at the Gersh Agency and Alex Kohner at Yorn Levine (world).
