I'm feeling a little alienated from my parish. It's not them, it's me, it just doesn't feel good. I attend a Newman center and they're doing all the big back to school stuff for the college students. I wasn't a regular parishioner until after I graduated so I never did that stuff.

Following up on this with a friendly reminder: you can decline to be weighed at the doctor's office. I get weighed at my GP, once a year. I don't need to get on the scale for every GYN and derm appointment, just because it's expected.

Contrition is an important concept in Catholicism. The priest really dug deep into it today. Apparently "contrition" comes from the same root etymology as "to crush", and when you ask God to give you a contrite heart, you can ask God to crush your heart. 1/
