Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 06/05/2025US needs to recognise that Russia and China are tight allies. It is highly likely US will be in a conflict with Russia and/or China in the next few years. So Ukraine is doing the US a huge favour by weakening Russia. And China will be watching to see Russian success before invading Taiwan. 010
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 06/05/2025Russia controls 19% of Ukraine territory after 3 years and over 1500 casualties per day. And it’s suffering from stagnation: 13% inflation (25% food inflation), 21% interest rates, and declining GDP. So Trump needs to stop emboldening Putin and EU needs to gain confidence that it can win. 153
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 06/05/2025Russia is NOT winning the war. They’ve barely moved over the 3 years. When Trump says Ukraine has no cards, he doesn’t understand the will of the people to retain sovereignty and defeat a foreign invader. Look at US in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. They didn’t have cards either… 120

Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 04/05/2025Of course, I do agree that the Torys are the losers. I left the Conservatives for the Lib Dems because I’m pro-EU, pro-Ukraine, pro-increased national defence and anti-Trump/Musk/Vance. The Torys are too busy chasing Reform votes… so have lost long standing members like me. 010
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 04/05/2025Self-fulfilling prophecy. While it’s right to point out the trend… we are actually adding to Reform’s momentum by giving Farage a disproportionate amount of coverage. I don’t see coverage at on the Lib Dem’s despite their strong gains and unique messages on EU and Trump. 110
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 04/05/2025Watching UK news coverage over the last 24 hours, one would think Farage's Reform party had taken over the Conservatives as the 2nd largest party in local government. In reality, Reform are 5th, coming some distance behind the Greens. Lib Dems gained over 160 Councillor seats… 370 total! 💛💛💛 120

Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 20/04/2025Good question by Dr. Fiona Hill regarding China’s involvement in the Ukraine war going forward now that US is siding with Putin. Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 17/04/2025Trump just announced tariffs of 245% on Chinese imports, a dramatic escalation to the ongoing trade war. Might as well make it 1000% at this point as trade is definitely now dead between US and China. This is a childish move that does nothing to improve the global economy, stability or security. 030
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 16/04/2025Is Trump creating concentration camps in El Salvador? Trump told the President of El Salvador that he’s gonna need to build about 5 new prisons in El Salvador… because the “homegrown” criminals from US are next. Is that with or without due process? 020
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 15/04/2025Trump is showing his true colours. He sold billions in weapons to the Saudis during his first term, yet when an ally under attack from Putin offers to purchase American made weapons… he shuns the sale? Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 14/04/2025This is scary. Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 13/04/2025Stop trying to explain Trump’s strategy on tariffs. It’s just a power play. Trump is giving himself “cards” so that individuals, oligarchs, companies, states and countries will ‘kiss the ring’ and give some pro quo for tariff relief. Creating a global kleptocracy and system of patronage. 2104
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 13/04/2025💯! I’ve never displayed pronouns and did not change my title from ‘Chairman’ to ‘Chairperson’. Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 10/04/20254. Given the lack of stability, companies will not move their manufacturing plants to the US. Capital investments take years to build... Trump moves the goal posts every week! 100
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 10/04/20253. Small business owners will go out of business. Inventory shipments are arriving over the next few weeks from China that were ordered and paid for months ago. Business owners will be faced with tariff of 125% of the cost of goods upon arrival and won't be able to pass on to their customers. 100
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 10/04/2025Following are 7 consequences of this trade war: 1. 10% baseline tariffs are still 4x the previous average tariffs of 2.5%, so will be inflationary for US consumers. 2. 25% tariffs on autos will reduce demand. Consumers will hold off on new purchases until sanity returns or just buy used cars. 100
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 10/04/2025After seeing $6.6 trillion in stock market value wiped out, Trump walked back his erratic tariff policy with a "90-day pause" and implemented 10% global tariffs, 25% auto, and 25% aluminium/ steel... except China. China retaliated from 34% to 84% tariffs and Trump doubled down with 125% tariffs. 230

Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 08/04/2025The great bargain has always been that China buys US T-bills and US buys their cheap tennis shoes. In fact, approx $1.78T, 55%, of China’s central bank reserves are USD. What would happen if China started dumping USD in favour of the Euro or a BRICS stable coin? 020
Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 08/04/2025Hardest hit markets are the US and Japan (-18%) and the least hit is China (-4%). That’s partly because China is not nearly as reliant upon the US as the US is reliant upon China. China has 1.3B population that doesn’t need to buy US goods. Laura McCracken @lauramccracken.bsky.social · 08/04/2025The stock market is the only thing willing to speak truth to power. 🤔 Next we’ll see inflation rise, global demand / GDP decline, profit margins squeezed, and jobs eliminated… ultimately stagflation. 030
