Similar first class for Technical Writing - begins with a "write instructions for making a PB&J" with a subsequent demo of following those instructions to the letter, to great hilarity & dismay. People really struggle with parsing out all the sub-tasks & inter-related processes!

Ration stamp books for food and gasoline, national speed limits to save fuel & tires, consumer good restrictions, etc. all of which happened in WWII would be *non-starters* nowadays. Hell, even gas rationing in the '70s during the Yom Kippur War & Iranian Rev. crises was *deeply* unpopular
