School districts are absolutely beholden to EdTech and will not do this without a lot of parental pressure. And they don’t listen to teachers. 110

It is absolutely true that often the least qualified and most inexperienced teachers work in the most challenging situations. That was definitely the truth at my school. And she’s just describing the reality her daughter faced. 000

I was picturing myself at my former school trying desperately to plan an ELA class for 6th grade students who were on average reading at a 2nd or 3rd grade level. It was impossible to meet the intellectual and emotional needs of all 30 kids in that room. 100

I could barely keep up with the needs of students during class time. On top of that there simply wasn’t enough time to adequately assess student work and plan for the next lesson.
