Good morning, my friend! Now back to our regularly scheduled month! ~Draconid Meteor Shower: early tonight & tomorrow! ~Hunter’s Moon: Oct. 25/26. ~Candy: mine. ~Music: only the Best on the World Classical Network (on free iHeart app/streaming WCRI 95.9, RI, or WSCS 90.9, NH) Join me from 6-10am!🎶

Cool facts about my favorite month: there are 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays, a meteor shower, a full moon (Hunter’s Moon), Halloween on a Saturday (won’t happen again until 2037), Clocks fall back on Halloween.

I have a bag of sweet jelly pumpkins, and identical-looking sour jelly pumpkins. We like both so sometimes I mix them.

Good morning, my friend! Just adding another photo of what’s known as “holiday creep” to our collection. (If you haven’t heard, it’s when decorations show up in stores months before).🎄 I promise, no “Jingle Bells” today, just great music on WCN (on free iHeart app/streaming WCRI 95.9!) Join me 6-10!

Store display out last week that shows characters from a holiday TV special, the 1964 Rankin-Bass version of “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

She’s such a cutie! ❤️ Our late Doogie used to be so excited to explore that he would also get tangled up in the leash, just like Sugar! Memories!

Don’t think of them in terms of…”Where would I ever store that?” but rather… “How many pies would my pal Laura bake from that?” (A: 🥧 x 2000)

I’m not much of a “carnival” person, but the produce and animal barns were right up my alley! It was fun to see the prizewinners! Also saw a dog agility contest, and a children’s equestrian competition. Little kids…in full control of their show ponies!

All prize winners. The garlic took 1st Place!

Good morning, my friend! Family outing at #TopsfieldFair, “America’s oldest agricultural fair.” You can zip through exhibits in 2 hours, or make it a full day by trying carnival games and rides. No “Farmer in the Dell,” but great musical accompaniment wherever you go today @ WCN/streaming WCRI 95.9!

Welcome sign says “America’s Oldest- Founded 1818.” Although touted as an agricultural fair, (show animals to fruits & vegetables), there is also a Midway with carnival games, rides and foods.

In the poultry barn is a temp-controlled incubator. We watched this little baby peck its way out of its shell!

Heaviest pumpkin, 1st Place, is 2,598 pounds! Nearby sign says the 1984 winning pumpkin was “only” 433 pounds! (I stood there calculating how many potential pies…)

Probably not, it’s a frost sensitive grass and it will die- -BUT- -if it drops seeds, those seeds could germinate new shoots!

Thanks, Sue! All photos from yesterday. I swear my garden is Mother Nature’s stubborn toddler who refuses to go to sleep. As I become a better gardener, I end up doing traditional October garden chores in the November cold every year. 🤷‍♀️

Good morning, my friend! Happy #FriYay (finally)! After all the rain/gray skies, I invite you to take our weekly #respite in #mygarden, (which doesn’t care it’s fall!). Just breathe, and take along the best musical accompaniment: the World Classical Network (on free iHeart app/streaming WCRI 95.9)🌸🦋

Butterfly bush only has half of its blooms but there were still butterflies, moths and bees visiting yesterday.

Surprise! Rose deciding to start growing on its own in the Concord grape arbor…. (photo yesterday).

Sorry Sue, but the WCRI stream is back-up programming running in the background in case the main transmitter is having difficulties as it is today. WSCS 90.9 in NH is actually airing my live show!

Good morning, my friend! It’s the 1st of Oct so “Rabbit Rabbit” to wish Good Luck! Fotos Sylvia & Ernie, who live in my back yard! Thx to @nursenancy62.bsky.social who taught me the tradition! NH Network affiliate WSCS 90.9 is playing our programming just fine (WCRI having technicals). Wish us luck!

Sylvia Rabbit, mother of 16 (this year), needing some alone time. I’m a mom of 1…and yet I totally get it.

Ernie Rabbit, yesterday by my driveway, asking me if I had seen Sylvia. I said no. (As a mom, I’ve got you, Sylvia!❤️)

My dad was a huge chestnut fan so I learned a but if history from him: that Massachusetts got hit with a devastating chestnut blight in the early 1900s. If you find any from local trees at all it’s a rarity. 😢
