Honestly, I got married relatively late (I was 38) and I have been trying to tell people ever since that there is definitely a *marriage privilege*, because at least I know I trust my husband, and he's willing to be the intermediary when I need him to be.

But THEN I saw the parallel to that financial planner we had decided not to hire. The one that turned into a jerk because I rejected him. And I wonder how he would have acted if it had been my husband that wrote the exact same email.

It didn't end in assault. Just in a lot of fear, for the woman, because the man she'd thought was a very nice guy didn't turn out to be so nice when he was rejected. And of course I saw the parallel to the campus incident that's been on the news. Different scale, same problem.

But, as you know, a certain horrific example of men behaving badly toward women has been on the news a lot the last couple of days. I've been trying not to stew on it, but that's hard to do, right? And then today, I read someone else's story, about a date that ended badly.

Maybe it would have gone differently if my husband had sent that email. But here we are. The response I got was demanding, rude, and didn't even spell my first name correctly. Surprisingly unprofessional, and the classic case of "glad we dodged that bullet" I ignored it and moved on with my week.

Oh gosh, y'all. Get your flu shots this year. I came home from traveling and was done for the count for... three days... still not feeling myself, but so much better. (And, if you can afford it - the covid/flu/rsv test was a big reassurance to help me know WHICH terrible thing was doing this)

I filled out my primary ballot over the weekend. There were a couple of local races that were really fun to consider, because the people involved will (hopefully) all go on to do cool stuff, and I find myself wanting to watch their careers like a devoted auntie.

I've been distracted lately, and I *knew* we had a primary coming up, but I wasn't really thinking about it. Fortunately, the Colorado BallotTrax system emailed me to let me know it was on its way, and now I'll know to keep an eye out. Because that's how secure mail-in voting can be.
