Though I no longer live in Sydney, I have recently updated the anagram map to reflect the new Transport NSW style. Presenting: the Lysine Yard Network! #anagram #anagrams #wordplay #train #trains #Sydney #NSW

A little over 13 years ago, I created an anagram map for Sydney's CityRail Network, as a labour of love for my then boyfriend (and now husband). Sydney's transport infrastructure has evolved massively since that original anagram map, which is now just a bit outdated.

Warnings: - Seizure warning (plenty of strobe light effects) - Un-simulated sex scenes Per IMdB: "A refugee arrives at the home of an upper-class family in London and seduces each member of the family. When he suddenly is gone, he leaves behind a void that the rest try to fill in different ways."

Another weekend, another move. Next up: The Visitor (2024) Well... That was... something. We're glad we watched it, but this is a very strange film. We appreciated this movie and the themes it explored. With that being said, exercise discretion when watching. 6/10 #NateRates #FilmSky #MovieSky

Last up on our movie weekend: Popeye: The Slayer Man (2025) A straightforward B-Horror movie, with some flat acting, sprinkled with humour and some basic-but-fun practical effects. A little predictable but overall pretty competent and a decent watch. 5.0/10 #NateRates #FilmSky #MovieSky

Continuing on with our weekend of movies: Hercules Returns (1993) I'd heard so much about this movie, and it didn't disappoint. Classic Australian humour, with some frenetic energy and great laughs. 9.5/10 #NateRates #FilmSky #MovieSky

One thing you can say about this movie was it had insane energy - it seemed like the cast were told to just go nuts. We had to pause so many times to keep track of the insane shit that was going on in the background. Despite everything, this movie got some laughs out of my husband and I.

This film was... not great. Some of the slapstick humour was fun, but the jokes about assault and rape were terrible, even for a film of its time. It was very interesting, however, to see Fran Drescher in one of her early film roles. Other notable cast included Dennis Quaid and Rosanna Arquette.

I will admit I was not super aware of the source material going in to the movie... I was more of a Mortal Kombat on the SNES kind of kid. As an aside, watching fellow Aussie Kylie Minogue was pretty amusing, her accent definitely clashing with her fellow cast-mates.

Another weekend, so another series of movies for my husband and I to enjoy. First up, Street Fighter (1994). A fun, campy and seemingly self-aware flurry of action, this was enjoyable but perhaps over-long, especially towards the end. 5/10 #NateRates #FilmSky #MovieSky

What I hate is, what's the harm in improving the environment and making the world a better place? Even if global warming were fake (to be clear, it's not fake), surely making the world a better place and polluting less is still the better move? ... oh right, capitalism and ideology...

In a weird way, watching this was nostalgic. While I certainly don't miss the prevalence of cigarettes in years gone by, the drama and intrigue inside and outside of school was on point, as was the tension of growing up and trying to find your identity and place in the world.

I was broadly speaking about reading comprehension and writing skills, or at least their apparent decline in some cases. Also, as pointed out below, AI tools that seek to summarise emails are not always accurate, leading to fragmented or effectively useless responses. Hence, what I posted.

Not to be a grump, but trying to get some colleagues to read and answer emails that are longer than a couple of sentences has been like pulling teeth lately. Yes, I would like you to read and answer the 3-4 questions relevant to your issue. No, a two word reply does not help at all...

Today is #NationalTeflonDay 🍳 Teflon is a fluorochemical, a group of stable and long-lived compounds that have generated environmental and health concerns. This graphic looks at the uses of these compounds, the concerns, and possible alternatives: www.compoundchem.com/2024/12/06/p... #ChemSky 🧪
Infographic on fluorinated 'forever chemicals' and where to find them. Fluorochemicals are organic (carbon-based) compounds that contain fluorine atoms in place of hydrogen atoms. These compounds are often referred to as “per and polyfluoroalkyl substances”, or PFAS.

The bond between carbon and fluorine atoms are very strong and stable. Because of this, PFAS don’t break down easily and can accumulate, posing potential problems for human health and the environment.

The graphic goes on to show the structures of some common PFAS and details their uses.

The globalization of news has made the whole world’s problems our problem, fostering a sense of powerlessness that’s led many to redefine morality from “doing good” to merely “feeling bad”. C. S. Lewis wrote of this in his 1946 letter to Bede Griffiths:
