While Burnham's announcement that disabled people's bus passes in England will be valid 24 hours a day from April next year is to be welcomed, it would have been nice for the UK media to acknowledge that 60+ and disabled bus passes in Scotland have been valid 24 hours a day for years now.

There are 24 hyperscale data centre applications in Scotland. If they're all built they'll consume over 1.5 times the peak energy demand of the entire country. We urgently need a pause to develop a national approach that works for people and planet, not just tech billionaires.

Not only would this criminalise the use of Gaelic in Scottish elections, it would threaten to jail anyone who uses British Sign Language in a campaign video. At their first whiff of power Reform's priority is to make our democracy less accessible and threaten their political opponents.

I despised Ann Widdicombe but no one deserves what happened to her. Yet it says so much about the hate and division far right politicians like her have created I was relieved to hear the suspect police are looking for is a white man and the "protecting women and girls" crowd won't be out rioting.

Spare a thought for Rupert Lowe. 16 kids and their teacher were slaughtered in Dunblane, another 15 were shot and wounded. Hundreds more were traumatised and grief stricken, but Rupert's dad had to give up his shooting hobby. There's no violin small enough.
