Been watching drumming videos and sometimes they mention "worship" music and "i played for my church" it's a completely foreign concept to me. what do you mean... what kind of church has drums and guitar? those are rock/jazz instruments. they are unholy and must be beat to produce sound

thinking about this thread articulating something I have been peeved about for a very long time

tweets from crow (username: birdgenre) that say "think people should get more comfortable with saying "i relate to this character's experience because, while it is not strictly analogous to mine, it belongs to the same general class of thing producing common effect & emotion" instead of calling everything a damn allegory. allegorical work requires abstraction Upwards or Parallel, not Up-Then-Down, & it generally extends its metaphor to the themesandsuch of the whole text, instead of concentrating itself purely in a-contextual symbolic nodes. what is this impetus towards figurative legitimacy? for ex., do expressions of life under oppression or working around Normality *always* entail queerness-as-allegory or is this read rooted, damningly, to context -oft shared by exceptionalising voices in fandomspace. not to say this imaginative work isnt Valuable, but allegorical?"
