Just for transparency sake there is now a brigade occurring that was egged on by CJ, the person who was out there calling themselves a “kind v gan” So temporarily, the list IS on BLOCK - they cannot access me for the next 2 days while they actively brigade and say “nobgoblin”, then “who, us??? 🥺”

Sherry with a Why says “I agree some Vs can be abrasive, but no more abrasive than this ridiculous slanderous list”

Gigafox calls people “what a petty nobgoblin” and sherry thanks that comment with “thank you G. That list is so clearly biased towards anyone who speaks up for the victims, no matter how cordially.

This one, by a licensed pharmacist, was using and weaponing mental health language to send someone to a psychiatrist, for eating a meal. “There aren’t health reasons” would have been sufficient (belief), and not hate. But telling strangers to go to a psychiatrist for that? The ableism jumps out.

This is bizarre. You did not start eating dead animals "for health reasons," there aren't any. I would recommend a good psychiatrist, maybe they can figure out this sudden obsession with violence against animals.

You liked this post, which aims to override and dictate the (past) identity of other people, whom you do not know. What would you like me to do to remedy this - if someone eats a meal, should they be told they were never formerly a vegan, and “it’s okay to rape, torture, and murder”?

I was vegan quite literally my entire life until last summer when I started eating chicken and fish for health reasons. I had my first drumstick a week ago and now all I can think of is drumsticks and how badly I want to eat 100 of them. It's 1am and I'm up thinking abt chicken drumsticks

Then you were never vegan. Veganism is a moral standpoint. Not a diet. You don't learn to respect animals and then just randomly decide it's ok to start paying for their rate, torture, and murder all over again.

continued The best vegan advocates I encountered, the ones who removed years of dairy product purchasing from my diet, weren’t the ones doing name calling They were the ones helping me find a solution to the speed bumps I had in switching over, and being helpful and bright ☀️ 😎 about it. Persuasive!

Vegans love to police the reasons that other people adopt vegan diets (the “was it health? or environmental? that’s not true veganism”)
BUT if the ultimate goal is do no harm to animals, it doesn’t matter why someone has picked to forego harming animals in their acting praxis. The measure is in the amount of harm done, not on what’s going on in someone’s head as they do no harm.
Why are you bullying others who are 90% to where we need to be (like vegetarians, or vegan/vegetarian flex combos), and why are you not working on educating the larger cohort of carnists, to get quick and massive gains from the people who haven’t started the process yet?
People whose thought process is very different than yours, and so they won’t be persuaded by the same arguments you are persuaded by: Figure out what arguments persuade them. Make them feel good about their changes. Directional shifts are important, and have more effect than an all-or-nothing stance that can’t be met because of its moral purity.

Let people move toward veganism or plant based no-animal products diet for whatever reason fits them. Also - aren’t ALL the reasons also valid because veganism is the right choice ethically and environmentally? A diet that does no harm is also healthy, and it also is good for the environment?

Why the need to split hairs, like there’s going to be an award given to the best vegan
(and YET you’re not measuring your veganism on your ability to do friendly, helpful, non-abusive outreach that’s effective at lowering other people’s meat consumption and lowering their dependence on animal products? because that’s going to do more overall good than what you alone can avoid in your own life, as an already vegan adherent)

Also some people were saying about their veganism that there will be an award given out, a ranking, that happens in the afterlife.
That pretty clearly suggests that their veganism is religious, to them. They can hold themselves in that religion (religion is personal!), the shame spirals for the sin of having touched honey, or stepping on an ant by accident, but other people are simply not bound to hold the same thinking, or carry a perpetual sense of guilt/shame, as they just try to move through the world in moderation and without exactitude of trying to earn a vegan “high score.”

Here’s some thoughts. Again, this isn’t about one’s own thinking, in a closed loop with oneself (you’re free to think entirely what you wish about your own diet and choices) but it’s about how vegan advocates interface with people who aren’t yet vegan and how they often do it quite ineffectively
