No nonsense - ex UK 🚴🏽 (only 🚴🏽 in the EU now), long distance walker, ex punk. ❤️ nature; my garden; art, 2nd hand clothes; good food; & The Archers. Have opinions, mostly in my head nowadays. Dream of cities with less cars where people walk & talk & cycle. 🇪🇺

I remember seeing this at the time. It has always stayed with me and it is just as powerful to watch now. Esther Rantzen did many wonderful things as well as organising and presenting this.

😱 we avoided this as we had eclectic rules to be in my gang - had to be artistic; a socialist; have been to India & know what the prize in the Tro Bro Leon is. And we added “voted against Brexit”

Was an (eccentric) member of a cycling club for years. Met an eclectic group of men who I never would have met in real life & they became my best friends. 1 joined after his wife died - very quiet for months/years but eventually found a zeal for life again. Cycling’s good

Same experience. Lovely neighbour resisted all attempts to help her regain mobility after hip fracture, took to her bed, did not get out , and died there 2 years later

2/2 immense distress & we watched the nurses that were there working under immense stress. #Badenoch needs to intro rent controls to limit rent instead but she won’t do that as landlords vote Tory (worked in homelessness for decades)

#Badenoch on radio just now saying she would not raise the Local Housing Allowance as “people should not live where they can’t afford it.” Thing is tho, in London, when my mum was dying & we spent long hours/days in A&E they were only half staffed as nurses couldn’t afford to live. Mum suffered 1/2

I’d rather concentrate on net zero to ensure my descendants can live reasonable lives than save £500 tax - however hard it is to afford things right now. We should, I think, reverse the effects of Thatcher & brexit. #labour speaking for me right now. There’s hope at last. I hope.

Quite! Switched over from BBC5live to R4 and they were at it too! Coverage sounded rather bitchy - it’s a non-story & people just need to be nice. Listening to music instead now

Wish my mum had lived to see it. She coughed constantly and the doctors said “nothing wrong other than the air pollution” 🤷🏻‍♀️ She just had to live with it. Sadiq Khan has done a great thing.

I ❤️ how clean London is now. Live in the suburbs & prev if you went up town you had to wash when you came home as you felt so dirty, & the air stank. It’s so great now, the air smells sweat & so many are walking that you barely see a car some evenings. It’s a great place to hang out. Love it

#bbcaq #anyanswers real concern in callers re climate change & “what to do”. Yet I despair as a new family in the road have taken out an orchard in the back garden & replaced with paving & astroturf. Do people realise too that many asylum seekers are forced out of their homes by climate change 😳

Bromley has no clue at all about how to design for cyclists. Look at the interchange near West Wickham station - that’s a shocker.

A Dutch style roundabout, there was room. Now, as a v experienced road 🚴🏽,it’s best avoided, unless you want to start start constantly & mix with 🚶🏻, which I don’t. I’m a road user trying to get somewhere. Currently you are not IN the traffic flow but are stopped & have to re-enter constantly

Exactly this Dexter. Sums Bromley up exactly. Having nothing better to do, read the article. Appaz they need their cars to “go shopping”. They are literally 7 mins walk from the entrance to the huge Glades Shopping centre.

Britain’s capital has faced social media, press and political attacks designed to make residents and tourists feel unsafe. Ignore that: we have the facts, says London mayor Sadiq Khan
