Coming back for a moment; She was my biggest inspiration for becoming a programmer in the first place. I looked up to her anytime I felt inadequate. I probably wouldn't be as committed as I am if it wasn't for the work she accomplished, knowing anything was possible. You left a lasting impression 💚

(well no, i could see a use case for deep links, but i just think custom file extensions are the easiest to give validity to this idea)

then on helper-app startup, just check a file within user appdata with all portable app locations to see if the executable still exists there, then present the user with choice. bonus if you let them install to multiple instances in one go! deeplinks it wouldn't make too much sense but files, yes

protocol handlers are also very much something i intend on using this for! I workshopped this a little more for file extensions after making this post, but, for absolute easy cross compatibility on multiple OSes, i recommend on portable app startup, to write the path to the respective user appdata

The post served its purpose to bring awareness to the problem and now that it was fixed so quickly its painting them in a more positive light where they simply might've just gotten confused, so I respect that diligence and will applaud them for that. Don't want to give them a continued headache

can't win them all but the new version gets the point across enough which is all i could ask for

Took down this post because it looks like they listened and removed IntelliSense from the coding question part, which is awesome They likely just got confused like most other people would, and its obvious they are taking this seriously Kudos, VRChat.

it never ends it never fucking ends they want us to be confused into compliance

Im just taking a break from social media for a while, it's been nothing but just dystopian, and I'm already in a state in my life where i've lost a lot of things that matter to me personally, physically and mentally, and I don't know how much more i can handle.

So the thing people ACTUALLY hate, generative art, text, code, etc, from large scale theft of the internet and violation of licenses and copyright, just ends up being bundled in with... i dunno, uv mapping. So it makes this conversation so much more confusing than it has to be
0113
Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
Which on paper sounds good, but the reality is that Generative AI has confused the general public on what "AI" even means, what was considered "AI" in the first place, and what is newly referred to as "AI", so it slips in
171
Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
I think a contributor to this problem is that AI is being referred to as a general all forms of AI, but insists on bundling Generative AI and AI into the same label
182
Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
I just replied with "Other" and how this question is phrased improperly and will only lead to invalid conclusions.

Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
this is a fun problem to solve

Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
-that is consistently always in a location, only like a megabyte or so, could simply forward the request to whatever open portable apps there may be, and optionally show an interface to pick which open active instance the redirect should go to if you have multiple open at different locations

Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
I was trying to figure out how to assign a file type to a portable application, since, a portable app could be located anywhere, and you could likely have multiple instances of said app open at different locations but i figured that making a separate, installable helper app-

I released my first custom track for MaxX Throttle (by @twilightpb.bsky.social) a while back in beta! The community was very positive, so I thought I'd show it here. Almost all the visual effects you see are not base game and added by the track itself. If you want to play this, look below!!

I'm primarily targeting is those who do not grow to appreciate programming from their original pragmatic intent, so my wording could've been WAY better. I should've mentioned that those who only do it for monetary gains CAN indeed get passionate for programming and also not for it's artisanal value

Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
the fact that you can phrase something like "programming is just as much of an art form as model work or voice acting if u ask me" and it being some sort of "take" someone can or can't have is so sad to me, i wish everyone just knew it was art like how you could look at a drawing and say its art
120
Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
just a bit sad tonight

Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
so when i see people have these strong stances against generative ai used in art, but see it used in coding as "just a tool", it really makes it dehumanizing. It makes me realize, people don't actually care about programming, and applications are just magic boxes in their computers
2223
Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
there are people who program to make a product who could care less about the artistic craft of the activity itself and just want to get it done. The same can be said for other creative hobbies, they can all get monetized the same way and have people who are less passionate just trying to make bucks
2141
Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
programmers are always ones who get the least attention, least acknowledgement of their craft, and least likely to have their skill alone net them any kind of career based around themselves as a person. Not to mention all programmers being lumped into the same group due to lack of understanding
1152
Landie @landie.land · 06/10/2026
its insane how many people view programming as a means to an end or something that isn't artistic as a kid i always viewed programming as the endgame, the thing that would let me make anything i ever wanted, something that i couldnt do with just drawing or making lbp levels

This track, as mentioned before, is in BETA. There is a lot of issues. It's also "Hard As Fuck" so don't jump into it right away and play the base tracks plz. ok now how to play the game and track:

No worries, I can sympathize as I've been in the same boat in the past. It's stressful, and you deserve leniency. I'll spread the word where I can, and pray that you and your crew can get a break sooner rather than later

Its just time and time again, I've seen services pop up with fantastical ideas with little funding plans, then when their services get realized and suddenly it becomes impossible to upkeep and it ultimately closes only a few short months in. I think its a natural fear considering our landscape atm!

im not sure where you might have gotten the indication i didn't want to join the discord, I apologize if thats somehow the message that got across, but I'll probably take a look. If you believe in your current plan and have faith it'll pan out, I'll pitch in a bit monthly with what i can spare

sorry, bluesky post limits making this difficult for me to give the reply i want lol
And I admire all of that! I just wonder how expensive it is for you currently and if you can see yourself being able to support an exponential influx of users with the funds you're gettting (which based on your response seems to just be charity which isnt a solely bad thing)

I'm just hoping there is a backup incase the happy path doesn't pan out, yknow?

Landie @landie.land · 05/10/2026
from their about page they mention using WebRTC for almost everything which can substantially cut down on costs since its purely peer to peer, but their support page mentions their server costs and other things, so, i dunno. I could see an angle where this exists on low funding, but barely...

Landie @landie.land · 05/10/2026
I just want to help invest in it's future in the little ways i can, but also, i want to acknowledge what its hopefully doing to get some forms of revenue beyond just charity because charity will only go so far with live hosted services like this, its not something you can rely on to keep it running

Landie @landie.land · 05/10/2026
Sounds fantastic on paper, but, how sustainable is it? No ads, low latency, no cut from earnings.. where is the money coming from? We have newer tech to cut down on costs but, infrastructure doesn't grow on trees? Just a lil skeptical, but don't get it twisted; This is a good thing for everyone.

these youtubers are likely just throwing in flavor text to spice up their scripts but its extremely dangerous and can teach an unsuspecting audience that THAT is a SIGN. nobody would know better because they quite literally, dont know better
182
Landie @landie.land · 02/10/2026
one of the worst examples ive seen yet is a youtuber claiming "works on my machine" said by someone is a "telltale sign of AI code" if you know anything about shipping software or just reason for a moment, you'll realize this is a universal issue all programmers face...
1112
Landie @landie.land · 02/10/2026
I never found myself to be a youtube commenter, but with the rise of AI slop and it infesting everyone's hobbies, there are people making callout posts on these code larpers, but, while the videos are good, little phrases are often slipped in that attack programmers at large and its scary rhetoric

i think one big factor (among many) as to why AI has had such a foothold in coding spaces is because the majority of people dont consider programming to be art
