Will changing my name and having surgery make me 100% happy? Probably not. I have issues that aren’t gender related. I’ve never felt like I’ve fit in this world and that will probably never change. But damn, I don’t need to torture myself.

There was a lot of bad timing: I was 6 months on T when the pandemic hit, and then it was easy to just hide my face behind a mask and that just… stuck. Didn’t change my name because then they’d know. Didn’t have top surgery. Just kept rawdogging my dysphoria.

Almost had a panic attack yesterday. Held it off with breathing exercises. Delved into why it happened. Someone called me “Miss [deadname]”. As they would. Because I told myself not coming out was a long term strategy when it was putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. I need to make some changes.

There are times I’ve gotten brain rot over a thing and been like “aw crap, I’m not going to be functional for months” but this time it was like a pressure valve being opened, it’s such a relief to feel something that’s not pain or fear or despair.

I’ll still play it and enjoy it for what it is. This stuff isn’t a dealbreaker, there are just improvements I would have liked to see from a sequel. Mostly I want more battles like the story battles and not little skirmishes where you just barrel over 5 generic dudes in 2 minutes.

Coming off a replay of Shining Force III and going into the new Fire Emblem was always going to be a little tough. I like it but there are definitely some parts to this game that feel shallow. The clashes in particular feel like a mobile game’s version of turn based RPG combat.

I feel like any of the Trails games alone are good, but not exceptional. But the more you play the better they get as the world building is consistent across all the games and it’s awesome how they all tie in together. Depending what series you start on you’ll get a different perspective too.
