Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 22/07/2026From The Reveal's Nolan list, an absolutely insane misreading of Bane who is clearly meant to be a communist revolutionary (which in the Batman universe makes him a villain) 100 1

Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 07/08/2025I am by no means an expert on Eddie Palmieri, but this record "Unfinished Masterpiece" is one of my favorite salsa records and a big part of why I've gotten so obsessed with the genre recently, you should check it out if you haven't. 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 31/05/2025insane that pain of salvation have a song with the lyric "sick of homies", i wonder if he means these guys 010 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 18/05/2025my favorite prog album from the 21st century and my fav prog album from north america in any time frame. still the golden standard for bad ass rock drumming. the salsa sections sent me on a path that I'm only now fully realizing 010 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 18/05/2025maybe the best comeback record ever? a complete reinvention that simultaneously pulls from the past of synthesized psychedelia and sounds utterly new and futuristic 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 18/05/2025"Starless" alone makes this an all timer, a fitting farewell to the high prog era 100 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 18/05/2025could've picked any of the first seven, but this is my current fav of the golden age run 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 25/02/2025Day 24 - Tyler's first "mature" record puts his sharper than ever lyrical skills in harmony with the jazzy and soulful tendencies that cropped up in his production since he hit the scene. Free from the edgelord antics of his early albums these elements of his style can finally take full bloom. #MWE 010 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 24/02/2025Day 23 - Compositions for solo piano and whispered wordless vocals, all soft enough that I could audibly hear my dog snoring in his bed behind me even with headphones on. Pleasant enough but utterly frictionless and forgettable. #MWE 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 23/02/2025Day 22 - As airy as the cover suggests, but don't mistake that for a lack of substance. Despite the light touch, these mostly instrumental tunes are grounded by surprisingly funky grooves and nuanced compositions that elevate Vollenweider and company above mere "to study to" fodder. #MWE 100 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 21/02/2025Day 21 - While I respect them as innovators, Godflesh have never been my jam. Some great, simplistic riffs but the stiff drums and off-key vocals make their songs sound like pre-production demos far too often. This album's best moments come in the last 2 tracks when they abandon metal entirely #MWE 100 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 20/02/2025Day 20 - An album that would have done me considerable psychic damage had I heard it at 16 when it was released. Teenage makeout music played at earsplitting amplification. Much of it is too sweet for my tastebuds, but "Red Sea" is an incredible piece of guitar art. #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 20/02/2025Day 19 - Meticulously detailed polyrhythmic jazz fusion that nonetheless comes off as cool and aloof. This is not a shredder's affair, instead building complexity out of dizzying interlocking rhythms and sonic manipulation inspired by dub and loop music. Weather Report for the Playstation 2. #MWE 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 20/02/2025Day 18 - A softer, synth-inflected take on the nü-metal sound from Finland. The influence of Deftones looms large over these tunes, which ironically makes them sound *less* dated in 2025. The electronic elements and electric piano are nice touches. Vocals are weirdly indistinct in the mix. #MWE 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 19/02/2025Day 17 - Don't let the art fool you, there are no lutes or flutes to be found on this French metalcore band's debut full length. Instead Sorcerer keep things simple. Non-stop mosh riffs only broken up by ominous chiming leads. Till the fields, then open up the pit. #MWE 100 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 18/02/2025Day 16 - Quick & dirty counter-programming to the guest-laden Metro collaborations last year, this solo mixtape finds Future doing what he does best, making spending money sound miserable, with his trademark mix of melody & underrated lyricism over beats almost too freshly out of the oven. #MWE 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 18/02/2025Day 15 - Framed by Alice Coltrane's fluttering harp, these four tunes can't help but feel like they emerge from a dream. As with the last Tyner record I listened to the standout stars are Carter & Jones on bass & drums but Shorter makes a big impression on "Message" and "Survival Blues" #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 17/02/2025Day 14 - A compilation of outsider pop tunes that due to the rough production and natural obscurity comes "pre-vaporwaved". Tape wobble, unintelligible vocals, throwback instrumentation etc. More of a curiosity than a genuine jam, I'd prefer to listen to a finished product from the era instead #MWE 100 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 14/02/2025Day 13 - Lord forgive me, but I had to go back to the old me. While drummer Mike Portnoy's return results in some of the best paced and most thrilling instrumental passages in the band's recent history, the AI art says it all regarding the rest of Dream Theater's priorities. #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 14/02/2025Day 12 - Do you like the Yamaha DX7? Do you harbor a dream to Go To Brazil? If you, like me, have considered learning Portuguese and have an unhealthy preference for synthesizers of the past, this album of obscure electro-jams is for you. #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 12/02/2025Day 11 - Rare that I'm ever introduced to a band by their remix album, but this collection of extended and alt mixes left me curious about what original tunes could have inspired such mind-bending interpretations. "Listless Dream" in particular is out of this world good #MWE 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 10/02/2025Day 10 - Longform percussion drones, where the overtones from the drums become their own instrument. This reminded me a lot Brian Chase's experiments, though Filipe's jams keep a steadier pulse. A great record for a slow morning. #MWE 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 09/02/2025Day 9 - Melody-forward modern metal that avoids the pitfalls of most djent by not overcomplicating things and being actually catchy. The lyrics are pure melodic math nonsense, but they chose the right syllables. Wouldn't be surprised if these guys have some legit pop writing experience. #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 09/02/2025Day 8 - My understanding is that the Canterbury scene is prog with a sense of humor and a jazzy sensibility. This record lives up to that reputation but doesn't skimp on the CHOPS. Flows seamlessly from one track to the next, at times gentle other times stormy. Highly recommend. #MWE 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 07/02/2025Day 7 - I was sold on the lineup of Tyner/Carter/Jones. Hard to think of a better rhythm section than that for this style. Tyner regularly switches from piano to harpsichord and celeste, two rigid keyboard instruments I don't associate with jazz harmony, and draws beautiful stuff out of both. #MWE 110 1
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 07/02/2025Day 6 - 50% jazz inflected pop 50% breakbeat chaos. The second track has one of the slickest uses of quintuplets I've ever heard. Dense arrangements, like a bouquet of tones and rhythms that only reveal their internal logic on closer inspection. #MWE 130 3
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 06/02/2025Day 5 - Shabaka continues his reinvention as a New Age-er, with help from fellow jazz travelers (Andre 3k, Esperanza Spaulding) and underground kings (both halves of Armand Hammer). Who knew Elucid could lead a yoga class? Pretty, but ephemeral. For completists only. #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 04/02/2025Day 4: "Chance" by Miki Yamanaka Impressively performed and impeccably recorded, though I suspect I'd have greater appreciation for the details if I were more familiar with the jazz standards the trio work through. Alas, my music degree is in a different field. #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 03/02/2025Day 3: "Southampton Insurrection" by Fire at the Plantation House Prog metal a la BTBAM. Though the abolitionist theme is well intentioned the execution is hampered by a cheap mix and a half-hearted "guy with a cold" vocal performance. Turn this into a real band and he might be onto something #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 03/02/2025Day 2: "Hurry Up Tomorrow" by The Weeknd Abel drops the bad boy shtick and reveals the fears underneath. Fear of losing his voice, fear of his death, of the party stopping. The mask might be off, but don't expect a stripped down record. As hi-fi as ever, "Hurry Up" makes crisis sound sexy. #MWE 120 2
Lamniformes @lamniformes.bsky.social · 02/02/2025Day 1: "Reggae Vibes" by Love Joys The title does not lie. Ghostly harmonies floating above oceanic basslines. Songs that sound like transmissions traveling across both time and space. Lovers become strangers, hurdles block the light, but the groove keeps on going. #MWE 1141 14
