Two of the best records I’ve heard in a very long time were released yesterday from @coryhanson.bsky.social and Ryan Davis and I highly encourage you all to give them a spin …

If you’re craving new (to me at least) bluegrass music, check out Stash Wyslouch’s exceptional “Plays and Sings Bluegrass Vol 1” (out this year (Vol 2 out 2021 😉). Thanks to my buddy @nickmillevoi.bsky.social for this tip via his PG 100 Guitarist podcast. stashwyslouch.bandcamp.com/album/plays-...

Fun fact that may interest no one - the MCI recording console from Sigma Sound (used for many Philly sound recordings) now lives on at the incredible Miner Street Studios (Fishtown PA, for now), a gem of a room and truly the best people! It’s helped bring a ton of newer Philly indie music to life…

The songs of Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have added to the shared folk canon, but their career is their own

At the center of the new album from Gillian Welch and David Rawlings is the creative domain they’ve painstakingly fashioned: their studio.

We were all in, starting with Trace in 1995, shortly after Uncle Tupelo ruptured, and it’s still a big part of the soundtrack of life. Great road trip music….

Best? For me it all starts with Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. Why ? For one it features genre defining Teddy Pendergrass as the lead singer, and the whole album is brilliantly sonically dialed in to perfection at its inception … youtu.be/fnnvRMSMWaI?...
