#OTD in 1814, Napoléon defeats the Prussian army under Blücher at Brienne, where he had been a military student in 1779-84. It’s one of Napoléon’s last victories in what will eventually be a losing war. The Campaign of France is recognized as one of his greatest, despite his ultimate defeat.

#OTD in 1804, Napoléon is sacred Emperor by Pope Pius VII in the Notre-Dame cathedral. He actually took the crown and put it on his own head. He then proceeded to put a crown on Joséphine's head, making her Empress of the French. Napoléon is now 35 years old, his power and influence almost peaking.
