Current bookshelf orientation as I’ve been getting more books and I needed to expand.

I love this giant. He’s adorable and huge and a monster. His name is Hannibal, named after Ron Perlman’s character in pacific rim.

Got trans gender Marxism last year and I’m just getting started on it but even in the introduction, I’m seeing the stark difference between when this was written (2021) and today (2026). If you needed a reminder of how quickly things can change.

…enmeshment of official civic identity and the communities which provide us lives worth surviving through continue to be confronted by successive generations of revolutionaries. Civic identity is always selectively extended in its official form (for instance, a migrant obliged to demonstrate herself as skilled' and well behaved in order to be given leave to remain) and then tacitly undermined by structural dispossession (a racialised minority of citizens may have equal rights in many respects from birth, yet still face oppression daily). This tension is one that confounded emancipatory movements of the twentieth century: formal emancipatory processes generated new constituencies willing to quit while they were ahead', and retire to private life, rather than press for more contentious 'structural' transformation, or through to social revolution. These same tensions are still struggled with in the present: participants in revolutionary political movements inevitably at once have to be minded with doing what they can to overturn the existing order, while fashioning a liveable life in the meantime. In much of Europe and the Anglophone world, the successes of generations of struggle for trans liberation are bringing victories which run aground in these terms. Granted official sanction approval for our shifting identities, trans people find ourselves drawing closer and closer to a formalised equality. Notable reversals have appeared in nations overtaken by right populism, such as Hungary and the United States under four years of Trump. Yet this simplification of bureaucratic processing has fallen far short of providing true relief from our everyday torments and humiliations.

The 'mainstream' of trans activism has focused on smoothing over the process of transition as it runs through institutions, including those belonging to the state. Our domination by state bureaucracy, by landlords and employers, is often enough treated as a given, to be reclad with sensitivity training workshops and pronoun go-rounds. In many national contexts, considerable breakthroughs have been won in affirming the doctrine of 'self-identification', as well as streamlining the process by which states validate legal sex changes. Although certain British feminist circles have reacted furiously against these breakthroughs - a backlash that has since metastasised into the wider liberal intelligentsia - this rainy backwater seems to be something of an outlier.* For the most part, left-wing circles and youth movements

Two answers. The first is the game that made me never want to play a scary game again. The second was a recent one where I wanted to try scary games again.

Amnesia - the dark descent. 2010 game. Image is the game’s thumbnail. It has some darkly lit creatures, a man holding a lantern, a staircase behind him and some toothy thing. Pc cd in the top left, pc cd-rom in top right. ESRB RP (rating pending)

Mouthwashing. 2024 horror game. A central eye, bloodshot and not symmetrical ringed by three concentric rings that is dripping like blood. Background has more disembodied eyes that are rendered with much lower graphics quality (ps2 era). Lots of red.

I was really happy with my purple witch costume last year. I also did a Jessica Rabbit costume I loved in the early 2010s, and I also remember doing a gaia/wood nymph/poison ivy costume that I put a lot of work into in like 2006. Wish I had pictures of the other two right now.

The furnaces of the world are now burning about 2,000,000,000 tons of coal a year. When this is burned, uniting with oxygen, it adds about 7,000,000,000 tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere yearly. This tends to make the air a more effective blanket for the earth and to raise its temperature. The effect may be considerable in a few centuries.

The 4 peregrine chicks, this time with a wide shot so the full birds can be seen. They are very close together, and one or two down feathers are left against their brown feathers. From left to right, there is a blue band (Vincent, male), and a yellow band (Dalewood, male) the other two are obscured. They also kind of look like a band from the 90s posing for their debut album.

The three peregrines chicks that are not in care, hanging out on the ledge. Red band (corktown F) in the center of the image, I believe a blue band on the left (vincent, M), leaving the chick under the overhang as the white band (saltfleet, F). Currently Dalewood is in care at the Owl Foundation after something happened last night, and he was brought to the foundation. Likely a small collision with a window. He seems fine so far but they are keeping him there to be safe.
