(Yeah, I think the first time I read the audiobook version, I paced myself to one essay per day so I had time to process and let it all sink in, so it took MONTHS, but it is so worth it. He is the greatest.)

(So, James Baldwin is not staying in the closet any longer. Yup, Baldwin being gay is pretty much the reason this anthology of his nonfiction, most of which is not actually about being gay, was flagged. Oh, and I have my Tiger Stripe leggings on for school spirit and whatnot.)

(One almost certainly won't survive & the others seemed like they had a chance but still might not meet the threshold of being safe enough for my classroom, where parents can see all the books but don't have a formal mechanism for opting their kids out of individual titles.)

(Today in #BannedBooksWeek, I decided to augment my display a little, partially inspired by today's shirt & partly based on what was said in a Texas Freedom to Read Project webinar a couple days ago.)

(Today in #BannedBooksWeek. I did not even try to participate in the Meme Theme. I have an outfit from years ago with the "Goosebumps Girl" -- that might have been its own Banned Books tie-in -- but I'm not actually sure where the books that I bought for the outfit ended up after moving rooms 2x.)

Today in #BannefBooksWeek was a (brief) action-"filled" one. I traveled to Austin to testify at the senate education committee about the impact of SB 13 on classroom libraries, especially in small/rural districts like mine.
