As a GP working since 1990, I can only marvel at the significant changes to cervical cancer screening and detection. From annual Pap smears to biannual and now 5 yearly CSTs and self collect for asymptomatic patients while case numbers plummet and deaths fall. Science, I salute you 😊

As a woman I fiercely believe in body autonomy. As a physician, there was nothing more scary in my training than watching a woman lose half her blood volume in what seemed like a moment as she bled out in front of me. Without the expert intervention of obstetric colleagues, we would have lost her.

Looking at the Brisbane River from the Southbank ferry terminal. Brisbane River at a couple of bridges are in the full ground on the right, there are trees and pathways above the river on the left as well as the wheel of Brisbane (a Ferris wheel). The sky is cloudy and on the right is the arch of the Neville Bonner Bridge, highlighted in orange this evening. There had been a fierce thunderstorm and the air smelt sweet and everything was damp.
