my boss overheard me asking my teammates if it was cool if I dipped 10 mins early to drive my partner to a medical appt, and pleasantly asked if I could submit that as sick time. jesus christ. 10 mins! my old boss would have never!

man I had such terrible sleep. also one coworker is so sick that she'll have to leave work immediately, and the others aren't feeling 100% either. Plus one of my folks is flying in for a brief visit tomorrow. Gonna be a fun week!

For reference, this area of work wasn't part of my job until yesterday! And no mention of the task today was made then (because he only decided to schedule it about an hour ago). During an incredibly busy time at our business! From my perspective, this is how you lose good employees.

I've been so relieved by the news from my sister. Her child came through surgery extra fast, because it went better than average. I am so so glad that he seems to doing very well. Being a titi is a bit of a rollercoaster!

I already know that I'm going to be a pretty crazy old woman if I get to old age. But. BUT! I hope to god I'm not as cruel, deliberately incurious, and just plain ignorant as the older folks I generally have to assist. Some are dolls. Most are idiots with entitlement issues.

If I could tell my coworkers how the flight of two hummingbirds I just witnessed was more meaningful than any single thing we've accomplished in this job, they'd think I was crazy. But it is. There is so much to see once you really start looking. I hope to keep looking the rest of my life.
