I think Intelligent Systems really got something special with Fire Emblem Fortune‘s Weave. I loved Three Houses but I did only play one story. I‘m just going through Leda’s path and it’s full of intrigue that I’m curious to see how every story goes.

I knew it was bad but I didn’t realize it was “Returning to Pandemic Lows” bad. Also, nice work Mexico.

When it comes to a movie like Digger, I have little or no investment in whether the film itself is actually good. I'm not rooting for or against it. I'm here for the good criticism on both sides. I'm like a celebrity interviewed at the Super Bowl who says "I'm just here to see some great football."

The best and most niche praise I can give to the Primetime soundtrack is that it could have been for an unreleased SimCity sequel.

Every day, I’m reminded why I treat all Meta platforms like EPA SuperFund sites. It’s not worth it. (I’m also constantly harassed by ad on other platforms for Meta products so that’s the only burden I need to suffer through for my choices.)

Unless this is some mistaken identity stuff, this is a wild invasion of privacy. Zuck and Meta are never beating those creep allegations.

I think you could get broad support in Canada to nationalize KraftHeinz Canada just to get them to stop all these repulsive KD colabs.

I’m happy they figured this out, but it did take them “Take our access away” to do it and not “Use us as meat targets for Iran“ to do so.

I had to pause a YouTube video after the sponsorship ad read went “[Channel] is proud that we don’t use AI for research, scripts or analysis and definitely not finance or payroll, but our sponsor [AI-powered SaaS platform] is different.” I’m sorry, what are we doing here? Why bother?

In contrast, individual Canadians have been removing as many US products from their everyday purchases, provinces are collaborating with each other, and the country‘s doing the very hard work of reorienting the whole economy away from the US. Within a year and a half.

It’s bad inside the US and it becomes more ridiculous when it exits the vacuum of US politics. It’s why, despite being wildly unpopular, the current solutions to the trade war with Canada have been discounts for travel, “We love Canada“ weak shows of solidarity, and US politicians meekly tweeting.

If you can’t wait for Metroid Ravenous, Nintendo’s got you in the “woman too angry to die” department with Fortune’s Weave and Leda. She’s got a heck of a character intro.

You can tell the NHL hasn’t broken into widespread consciousness in the US, because it’s not like Canada’s been keeping the bloodsport a secret.

To be fair, the TARDIS is more often a plot forwarding device than plot armour. Most of the time it stops working, gets misplaced, or specifically malfunctions thus kicking off the plot. It’s honestly more of an impedance than an easy out for The Doctor.

It’s not that the Bloc would support Canada getting closer to Europe. It’s that it frames it as “You’ll have our support and you, the Federal Government of the nation we hope one day to leave, can do whatever you want.”

The intrusive thoughts kick in sometimes and I just want him to stop with the talk and bar trade already. Just to have the US economy do a little collapse. Just to show that yes, actually he knows truly this little about how finance works.
000
Stéphane Lachance @lachstep.com · 17/09/2026
It’s actually somehow dumber than this because he repeatedly disregards services in his already stupid calculation. As if subscriptions or finance are a whole separate economy that exists appart from The Economy.

Due to the ongoing trade war, I know auto workers from my home sweet home of Essex County will be hurting. Well, let me propose we go back to our roots, our heritage, and our history. It’s been over 100 years. This October, it’s time Windsor-Essex does what it does best. Rum-running.

This is seismic news for fisheries scientists. Northern cod is *the* iconic symbol of total fisheries collapse due to overfishing (and other factors) *and* the iconic symbol of a complete failure to recover for decades afterwards. This is like announcing the complete recovery of bison on land.

And for the coding/software stuff, we've been trying to "democratize" coding for ages via STEM initiatives in school and stuff like ITTT. Right now, those kids who were told to "Learn to code" got the career ladder pulled away from them by this very "revolutionary" tech.

I have a soft spot for the concept of local AI models, in theory. But when the primary execution (cloud AI) is causing a devastating price crisis across personal computing, and the main pitch for it all has been "You will lose your job and it will devalue your hobbies," that's hard to cheer for.

While people are begging in courts for their tariff refunds, I paid the cost of my Switch 2 as it was sold to me where no such tariffs existed. And it was about the same price CAD as it was USD, or even a bit more. And I’ve not nothing I can sue Nintendo for.

Stéphane Lachance @lachstep.com · 07/09/2026
You might look at me and say “But you’re in Canada? What tariffs?” And I would answer that, while I empathize with American consumers who’ve paid the cost of illegal tariffs, I suspect many products have their costs inflated in Canada so that there’s no ”run for the border” discount, if you will.

An 8 TB from the same brand is going for $390 now. A 16 TB? $760. It’s certainly something living in a world where personal computing is under threat from AI and Tariff inflation.

Were I still stuck having to write essays for school, I’d use the fact that Heritage Minutes, short reenactments of real life events in Canadian history, are some of the most well known pieces of fiction in English Canada as a starting argument.

Stéphane Lachance @lachstep.com · 07/09/2026
I’ve long wondered if (English) Canada was a nation where TV/film fiction has struggled to grab people culturally. But I don’t think it’s any sort of a mistake that you have Canadians out here like Matt Johnson and Nathan Fielder bending documentary/candid camera filmmaking to their will.
