Four bills now in Congress are attempting a nationwide erasure of #LGBTQ+ books and history from public #libraries and classrooms. Representation saves lives. Silence is not neutrality. Stand with us - Demand #Louisiana leaders vote NO on national book ban bills: la-cac.org #LGBTQ #StopCensorship

When vague laws put funding at risk, schools often “play it safe.” That can mean avoiding #books, removing materials & silencing discussions. Four bills could now create that kind of chilling effect. Tell #Louisiana's Congressmen: don't make #censorship national policy. Learn more: la-cac.org

Parents should guide their own children's reading—not politicians deciding for every family. S. 4925, H.R. 7661, H.R. 2616 & H.R. 8705 will make #censorship easier nationwide. Tell #Louisiana's members of Congress: protect the #freedomtoread. Sign our letter campaign. la-cac.org

It's normal in libraries to see a small number of book challenges by parents & patrons who have concerns about content. Today, however, 92% come from organized groups, including officials and dark money groups like Citizens for a New LA. It's time we reclaim our libraries for the people they serve.

Today the ALA released its 2025 most challenged books list. Across genres and ages, one trend persists: these bans target marginalized voices. Reading about others teaches empathy & promotes understanding; it's time to ask ourselves why that idea is so threatening to those who want to ban books.

Public library access in #Louisiana is at a critical moment. A recent AG opinion could change how #access to books is handled. Louisiana Citizens Against Censorship is fighting to protect the #freedomtoread. Learn why at www.la-cac.org/on-the-inter... Share to help others stay informed!

Here's the issue: A recent AG opinion suggests that simply being able to encounter a book in a #library is justification to restrict access to it. We say: No one is forced to read a library book. #Louisiana families deserve to make their own choices. Learn more in our latest statement.

Thrilled to announce that Amanda Jones @librarianjones.com has prevailed in her latest court battle against Michael Lunsford & Citizens for a New Louisiana. In a unanimous decision the LA Supreme Court has declined to hear Lunsford's request for dismissal, leaving the 1st Circuit's ruling intact.

Not librarians. Not drag queens. #Bookbanning and #censorship are politically motivated attacks on marginalized communities. It was never about protecting children. #saveourlibraries #notadragqueen #Louisiana

Once again, the Lafayette BoC ignores the First Amendment rights of the public. How long will our Parish Council allow them to continue to break the law?? LA R.S. 42:14 (D): each public body...shall allow a public comment period...prior to action on an agenda item upon which a vote is to be taken.
