Finished reading "The Reddening" last night. 4.5 stars. Loved it until the ending, which felt like a big stumble that lost momentum and went in an unsatisfying direction. Reading "The Troop" now. 🩸📚 #IndieHorror

A post just to make my stance on GenAI abundantly clear. I oppose its use in all creative pursuits. I do not use it, and will not support products or authors that use it. #AuthorSky

This creator is fervently anti-GenAI. All my content is 100% organic, homegrown creativity. If your product is made with AI (that includes book covers) I will not buy or promote it.

These book covers (cover of "Beyond Dimensional Veils" and "Madness in Manhattan Mine") are GenAI. I signed a contract with this publisher before I knew that they use GenAI. It is one of my great regrets, but unfortunately I can't afford to cancel the contract. I do not endorse these covers, and would rather give away free ebooks of these books than promote these unethical business practices.

Glad I dipped back into BlueSky at a good time to involve myself this week. It's been fun; thanks for hosting this, Matt. Hope it's okay to advertise my giveaway here — closes June 22nd, details on my profile 😊

I'm going to keep going with writing updates even though I'm now in a Dinosaur Fixation and I'm not super active here. My untitled dinosaur time travel story (which is more serious than the picture implies) is at 11,496 words, about 2k of which were written this week.

This week's #WritingUpdate as I write up my handwritten draft — and make little changes along the way. Not as productive this week as I would have liked. Unfortunately I got distracted by the rising tide of fascism that can only mean bad things for the entire world.

Silver sword on a black and white map background. Black, yellow bordered text reads: "Doomprince Part One Draft 2.5. 84/263 pages copied. 46,337 words written."

Because I'm a bit lazy, I still haven't told Amazon to stop the ebook being free, so... Fifteen stories of weird fiction and cosmic horror, exploring themes of isolation and "the other". There's even a madness-inducing book! #HorrorBooks

Coral reef under rippling waves. A book cover centres the image, showing the silhouette of a pregnant woman formed from a cosmic nebula. Text on the cover reads "She Carries the Cosmos and Other Eldritch Dreams". Around the cover, text teases book content: "Otherworld Deities, Oozing with Atmosphere, Interconnected Narratives, Transformations, Cannibalism, Supernatural Cat, Forbidden Knowledge".

This week's writing update! I am making steady progress writing the first novel set in my epic fantasy world — more accurately, typing up the handwritten draft and finding myself incapable of not making changes along the way. I'm enjoying the process and looking forward to planning Part Two.

Sword on a black and white map of a fantasy world. Text reads: "Doomprince Part One Draft 2.5 — 73/263 pages Copied — 40,835 words written."

Looks like I may have considered this Silmarillion/Ainulindalë/Akallabêth thing before, considering this suffix I created for my Elvish languages 🤔

My current read: Krondor: The Betrayal by Raymond E. Feist Feist is probably one of the authors most responsible for my love of the fantasy genre. Any other fans here? 🪐📚
