Bowl games are always going to draw viewers because ... football, holidays, etc. But the postseason needs a complete overhaul. Bowls exist because they always have but there is a reason no other significant sport in the world wraps up their season with exhibition games dressed up as real games.

This feels like the first major step toward the end of eligibility limitations. Period. Employment is coming and, eventually, I think it’s going to be hard to justify why terms of employment have to be tied to being a student. Once that’s gone, the concept of 4-year eligibility will be targeted.

Mateer to Oklahoma was easy to see coming. It’s a proven way to upgrade an offense quickly: Take a successful QB/coach and move them together. WSU did it with Cam Ward. USC with Caleb Williams (from OU). Utah is doing it with Dampier.

A federal judge ruled that, for now, Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia will be eligible in 2025. He's challenging the long-held rule that athletic participation at junior colleges -- outside the NCAA purview -- counts against NCAA eligibility. Interesting to see how this plays out.

Dickert did an excellent job for WSU, especially given the hand and I don’t think he would have left for Wake had it not been for the Pac-12 collapse. HCs leaving WSU for other jobs isn’t new, but the threshold for what makes other jobs more appealing in comparison is different now.

Cal announced it has hired Nick Rolovich as a senior offensive assistant. Rolovich has been out of college football since he was fired as WSU’s head coach for refusing to get vaccinated area for COVID. He has an ongoing lawsuit against WSU.
