Real community DJS
While puttering at home on a recent weekday, I tapped into KWMR to sample our station's imaginative local program-ming. By chance, a terrific new show was airing live. "CommUnity DJ" is heard every Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. Jordan Bowen and Jeff Manson share the role of host, and locally based guests tell of their work for the common good of West Marin.
Along with information, the guests each week bring playlists they've created, music with themes related to their work. On June 3, Tom McCafferty and Mary O'Brien from CLAM gave updates about affordable housing hereabouts, interspersed with tunes such as "It's My House" by Diana Ross and "Let 'Em In" by Paul McCart-ney's Wings. Fun! Turns out Leah Fritts Vitali and Kayla Vasquez at CLAM brought this idea to KWMR. Local, creative and in-formative, "Community DJ" is essentially West Marin. Tune in!

All signs continue to point to an exceptional, long-duration, and record-breaking to (in some cases) record-shattering March heatwave initially centered across U.S. Southwest but expanding to much broader region next week. This is effectively a full-on summer heatwave in March.
Map of projected temperature anomalies next Thursday across the western U.S. from the ECMWF ensemble. The entire map is bright red and pink, indicative of extreme to record-breaking March warmth. Some location will be 25-30F degrees above average, with a few locations warming over 35F (!) above average.

Marin County's Clerks Office in collaboration with the California Secretary of State is hosting a Apostille authentication for individuals needing documents certified for use outside the United States. Staff will be on site to authenticate signatures on California vital records and notarized documents. This one-day event helps residents meet deadlines for travel, school, work, and legal matters abroad-without the long trip.
Typically, this service is only available in Sacramento and Los Angeles, so this pop-up is the closest resource Marin has had in a long time (aside from occasional events in San Francisco.
Apostilled documents can play a critical role - for example:
• Emergency Caregiver Authorization: If a parent is detained, deported, hospitalized, or otherwise unavailable, caregiver affidavits and custody/guardianship paperwork help ensure children are released to a trusted adult.
• Dual Citizenship: Apostilled documents can support processes for dual citizenship, which may provide additional protections for families.
When: Wednesday, January 21, from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM
Where: 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael Suite 233 (former cafeteria), second floor with free parking available.
