New paper out @wepsocial.bsky.social with @karinakosped.bsky.social &S. Scarrow Based on the 🇩🇰 case we show that (1) parties’ social media following is a sizeable form of political engagement & (2) social media partisans form a distinct type of party affiliation www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Große Freude! Heute erscheint mein Buch über Politikstile bei Hannah #Arendt im Campus Verlag. Worum geht’s? Eine lebendige Demokratie braucht Personen, die das „Wagnis der Öffentlichkeit“ eingehen – aber mit welchen Erwartungen gehen wir an personalisierte Politik heran? Ein Thread 1/9

One of the rewarding parts: Getting PUBLISHED. @sziegler.bsky.social @kweissenbach.bsky.social and I did a paper that dives deep into how political parties and their members navigated the enforced digitalization brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. 🧵 journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10....

The Christian Democrats are currently favoured to become the strongest party in the next German parliament. The estimated policy position the CDU’s basic programme, which the party adopted in May 2024, indicates that the CDU moved to the right on economic and societal issues. 1/2

The Netherlands will join an increasingly long list of West European countries (CH, FR, IT, SE) where the radical right has overtaken the mainstream right as the main party of the right. A watershed moment for liberal democracies.
