my poem, “A Vacation,” is in issue 97 of miniMAG! there is also a poem by @kushalpoddar-poet.bsky.social in this one! my piece was written last year based off of a prompt from William Erickson. view the issue here: minimag.space 💚💚💚
image of digital page from miniMAG 97. black background with white text reads:

A Vacation

- K Weber

We’d been ripping seams
and beating at the edges.

But this was not a frazzled
dress. Not a pinata. Waving

arms, we felt for curvature;
sought endings to a million

stories we knew from the old
throats and theories. We did

not care about flat or sphere:
only how to get out. One day,

an unexpected sound rumbled
wooden and then we ignored

the bell that followed. Probably
salespeople. But every time

that pounding deepened
and tested our core. It was hard

to ignore until we found a door
so immense we plotted escape.

We opened the door. Only
to let them in.

'How to Burn Memories Using a Pocket Torch' is poet Kushal Poddar's ninth book. In the words of Santosh Bakaya "Dealing with common emotions with an uncommon use of tone, tenor pitch, and diction, each poem is a delight to read, deftly woven in raw, subtle, hard-hitting lines."

"What do I want from you? What I want from all of poetry and from each line of a poem: the truth of this moment. That's as far as truth goes. Never turns to wood - always to ashes." -- Marina Tsvetaeva (in a letter to Rainer Maria Rilke)

Poems should not be analysed, but how else will you build that ecosystem and economy that a poet needs for his bodily survival? K. P.
