What I posted yesterday only traced direct samples and gathered lighting from secondary bounces only when surfels covered the hit point. Now it automatically places bounce surfels. It is not as fast as direct sampling, but still real-time. It converges very fast and is stable. #Cinebara #TechArt

This is realtime global illumination that I've been working on for #Cinebara, a #VR performance capture engine for producing human-performed films with VR. The GI takes 2-4 ms in this demo. There will also be an offline mode which allows for full convergence before capturing a frame.

I came up with a concept for soft surfaces that are mass-conserving but also entirely parallelizable. This will be used in Cinebara when I implement secondary motion. This is just a mockup of the dynamics in Unity and doesn't handle collision yet.

On a related note: #Fenji v7 will include detailed fur textures for all the existing variants and a detailed toothless texture which serves the purpose of providing a scaled variant The harness will also be available with multiple variants. This one is for interplanetary transport! #Furry #VRChat

My process is topology first, with the idea that if I build supportive topology then finding the correct shape is far easier. This has become my favourite example of that! Top = Old tube topo Bottom = Topo designed for the muscle structure of the arm. (Using Subdivision Surface) #VRChat #VRCAvatar

I will try to post about this more as I progress. Today I made these japanese retaining walls for a world I'm working on with @skipsy.ca It uses a custom splat material that utilizes vertex colors for the channels and a height mapping algorithm that I made. This height map uses only 3 samples
