Event count for non-profit-ethical Eurosky vs investors-gimme-your-money Wsocial carried out at 08:00 CET: the 5 minutes test produced 1,484 events for Eurosky and 51 Events for Wsocial. Unlucky W has 3.44% of the activity of Eurosky, which shows that its use is declining by the day.

Event count over a 5 minute period showing Eurosky at 1,484 and Wsocial at 50 - making Wsocial a drowning duck which no investor should touch with a barge pole.

So we are basically seeing a repeat of the same formula with Wsocial, which also explain why investing into building a social platform from scratch was out of the question. Why throw away good money when you can exploit an existing open source protocol by just adding a few tweaks?

"If you're an NGO, if you grow the organization, you have a much more costly organization," he said. "If you're a business and you're growing, the value of your company is also growing. You don't need to focus on donations. You grow the business and you get more finance automatically."

He has explained his thinking in a post on the Medium blog platform.

This means that if his network reaches its planned 100m users, his 500 investors can expect to start to make a good profit on the 23 million kronor ($2.5m) they have put into the company, he said.

"Our goal is to have 100 million users and if we achieve that we can. like Facebook, earn money from ads."

Reality check: of Wsocial current 47,700 accounts, roughly three in four (68–78%) have written nothing to their repository since the day they signed up, and about 11% have ever posted.

47,344 users and counting… At 50k I'm handing the transparency reporting over to @sheriff.town - so I can get back to what really matters: reading fresh drama about public data.

I wonder what kind of criteria WSocial uses to create the feeds. If you click on What's Hot all you see is big media stuff mostly US and not EU centred. The same content is repeated in the Discover feed and the rest of the feeds are empty.

denys.dev kindly sent me a screenshot of wow.social.eu which turns out to be a feed creator account. So the way this seems to work on W is you open a new account > wow gets automatically added as a following > you click on wow and get a selection of feeds created by wow (?).

How does a heavily pushed social network like WSocial generate a mere 82 events in 5 minutes compared to Eurosky 1,883 events made during the same time? WSocial is currently the non-Bluesky PDS with the largest handle registration yet their event count is a mere 4.35% of those generated by Eurosky 🤯
