Ever wondered how someone can look at rules to keep us safe from toxic chemical pollution + think they're a bad thing? @corporateeurope.org talks to Naomi Oreskes about the ideology behind that thinking, + the networks of influence spreading these ideas: corporateeurope.org/en/2026/08/i...

Small boats are the UK version of the US obsession with anti abortion legislaton. Voters may privately admit that other policies/ politicians are better, but this one thing is their priority. They can't see that if you fix other things, abortion goes down/UK better infrastructure = more hosp appts.

Have flats where the flat owners have equal shares in an entity that owns the freehold. Condition of ownership that share is sold with the flat. Flats where my brother lived bought out the freeholder 20 yrs ago. Need to move to this model or similar.

Ooh! Tickets booked for Colchester in March, and while I was there i noticed Mark Steele, Michael Spicer in Oct & Nov, and Milton Jones in April. I have splurged and got tickets for the lot. Looking forward to all of it!!

Erm, I actually read Kane and Abel, and it most definitely is not "a modern retelling of the biblical story and the first murder." It's the story of 2 men from wildly different backgrounds and how their lives interwine. I don't recall any murders.

What are the figures excluding pensions? These really need to be excluded. And benefits for the working vs benefits for the non working. So that ppl can see how much employers are being subsidised by the benefits system.

John Healey has hit out at Reform UK during his speech at Labour Party conference. The Chancellor claimed Nigel Farage wants people to think "he's a man of the people, but said that "when it comes to the economy, he's Liz Truss with a bitcoin account".

Friend of a friend said the same about immigration from India. No clue that most europeans are white, and most non europeans likely to migrate here are not. I wonder if Remainers should have explained this to the racists back in 2016 when they didnt understand the right reasons for voting Remain!!

Elsi is not saying that Tommy is from WW2, but was used in both wars. Which is correct, though particularly in WW1.

Husband checked and says rapeseed can be ok, if coldpressed. Heat is bad. Early rapeseed oil had some acid stuff in but mostly doesnt now. But a colleague has said she tries to avoid for her kid. But US likely to have lower food standards than europe just generally I from what I hear.

Flippin eck!! £28 a kilo (for comparison purposes!!) for Hunter gatherer and other no seed oils. Tracklement have sunflower seed mayo at £15 a kilo. Is sunflower better than rapeseed? Or is all seed oil bad? Next thing to google.

Not just Apple, my Samsung doesn't either. You can get very cheap adapters though. My headphones live attached to my phone as I like audio books & podcasts and my husband doesn't want to hear them. I do go through a lot of headphones as a result of leaving them in though.

Being from the UK I'd not heard this before, so checked and it is well covered in the US press. Isn't this something that should be part of the Dems campaigning? An audit trail and destination of the money that left Venezuala? Otherwise isn't that what leaders of other countries get locked up for?

Just looked at our jar of Stokes mayo, expecting that to be sunflower, and it is 75% rapeseed, 5% ev olive oil. I will now have to google alternatives.

With difficulty I imagine. I am from the UK, where employers are used to providing paid holidays, sick pay and decent working conditions for their staff. My company sends out emails to managers about staff cooloff breaks in hot weather, and reminders on hydration. All part of Health & Safety.

And the UK is prosecuting him. We have even charged someone armed with a knife protesting his arrest, and at least one(!) of the fellow thugs who blocked Dover port (hitting a policeman with a bottle) that put Tommo in the headlines.

Saw the longer clip. She says BoE is left leaning "so called independent". I think she blamed them for not supporting her budget, and she couldn't make them.

Ok, found the longer clip. After her initial "yes" to his query, Nick did then challenge, and she clarified she meant "in its current form". But v daft of her not to realise her words would be taken literally.

How much are they supposed to bring? You know how heavy it is, and how do you keep it chilled all day? This is not office staff with a/c and a fridge.

Would that be normal, to say protests are peaceful if the protesters are openly carrying weapons?

How, in this day and age, can hotel staff not know the law on assistance dogs? Don't hotels do staff training? Also taxis, but I suspect they know & just think they can get away with it.

OK, not an exact challenge, more of a repeating as though he can't believe she just said that though. That's how I took it anyway. A distinct opportunity for her to check what she said. But not exactly a challenge.

It’s because “legitimate concerns” are about *immigrants* rather than immigration. It’s why they don’t give a hoot about numbers on a graph while they can still see brown faces on the high street 😕
