Today’s project was de-cluttering the -junk- guest room. After a couple of hours had enough to haul to a donation center. Needed to be somewhat productive before sitting to watch the Seahawks/Chargers game and the season finale of Lanterns.

.si is the country code for Slovenia. Melania and Barron Trump have Slovenian citizenship. Companies with connections to Trump have been buying up .si domains instead of .ai (Anguilla). Anguilla was making a ton off .ai domains. Guess who’s getting a cut off .si? There’s always a grift.

Migrating the GitHub Copilot runtime to Rust, using Copilot
A rewrite this size wasn't affordable before agents. Here's what porting the Copilot agent runtime to 800,000 lines of production Rust actually took.

Enterprise software companies had a short-lived run where they competed on usability and product-led growth which seems to be over. Now every SaaS app seems to be converging on the same UX monstrosity, complete with AI features of dubious value.

Mass layoffs are too indiscriminate and often make high performers leave due to increased workload and the negative vibes that follow layoffs. Jack Dorsey kicked off this cycle of layoffs with 40% layoffs and raises for those left behind to try to mitigate both risks, but the jury’s still out.

I, too, have given up on Deno. They lost the plot and deviated from the original vision too much. Just saw that Netlify Edge Functions moved off Deno Deploy which was Deno’s big win back in the day. I’m happily going back to Go.

web dev is fine. standards, delivery and maintenance remain important as ever and require humans and machines both. heavyweight abstraction framework based dev doesn't really make much sense anymore as particular syntax affordances don't matter much to a machine. as always, outcomes > outputs.

It’s artificial intelligence. In the history of computing, this puerile attempt to rename it because of the simpleminded whims of an incompetent and corrupt narcissist will be seen as a failure of leadership, an abandonment of intellectual integrity, and an embarrassment for any who join with him.
