One of our most important findings so far together with the Erpenbeck lab: We reveal that immune cells release and take up catecholamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine and respond to it, which has important implications for medicine. @ruhr-uni-bochum.de e @uni-muenster.de tinyurl.com/568y46ry

1/4 Check out our work with the Sulpizi and Havenith labs @nature.com. We show that light can slow down diffusion of small objects (carbon nanotubes), find a THz signature for it in the water and support it by simulations. @ruhr-uni-bochum.de @solvationsci.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41...

If you are interested in near infrared (NIR) absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy: Here is a a simple, low cost instruction. tinyurl.com/44k6xj53 You can also equip It with a xy stage controller for high throughput screenings. Congrats to Krisko. @ruhr-uni-bochum.de @solvationsci.bsky.social

Great collaboration with @philiptinnefeld.bsky.social and Lela Vukovic. Special congrats to Izabela and Justus. We show in @angewandtechemie.bsky.social that carbon nanotubes quench dyes with a beautiful d^-5 scaling law. Interesting perspectives for nano engineering... tinyurl.com/8dj3en47

Check out Valeriia's elegant photochemistry approach in @angewandtechemie.bsky.social to incorporate quantum defects in nanomaterials without compromising quantum yield or making later biofunctionalization more challenging. Congrats! lnkd.in/eaxaECt6 @solvationsci.bsky.social @ruhr-uni-bochum.de

Check out Björn's cool insights into near infrared signals from photosensitizers. It is correlated but does not origin from singlet oxygen. The signal is present in all samples we looked at (labeled vesicles, plants,...). @solvationsci.bsky.social @ruhr-uni-bochum.de tinyurl.com/5dvsrnde

Check out Jan's paper @acs.org Anal. Chem. We developed a simulation to quantify advantages of the near infrared and use the insights to create a diagnostic test/device for levodopa in blood serum for better Parkinson's treatment. @ruhr-uni-bochum.de @solvationsci.bsky.social tinyurl.com/2zvhtxcr

Juliana's workflow to 3D print carbon nanomaterials is now published online in CARBON Trends. Very cool to illustrate their properties, biosensing as well as teaching basic concepts in physics/chemistry. @solvationsci.bsky.social @ruhr-uni-bochum.de tinyurl.com/9fuxe5f2

Jan's work on a spectral phasor approach for very fast and simple hyperspectral imaging (HyperNIR) is online in Advanced Science. It is a beautiful and astonishing method for label-free imaging of different types of plastics and plant health as well as fluorescence signals. tinyurl.com/4epsba8e

Congrats to Alex. He shows in J. Phys. Chem. C how to incorporate two different types of quantum defects in fluorescent carbon nanotubes. It opens new dimensions to tailor photophysics and surface chemistry. @solvationsci.bsky.social @ruhr-uni-bochum.de tinyurl.com/4ruw3wc3

Great collaboration with the Borchardt group. It is possible to incorporate tiny numbers of quantum defects in nanotubes using mechanochemistry and tune their fluorescence. Congrats Miriam and Justus. @solvationsci.bsky.social @ruhr-uni-bochum.de @angewandtechemie.bsky.social tinyurl.com/4dws5c7c

Congratulations to Chen. She shows in JPC C that solvatochromic dyes on carbon nanotubes modulate/improve their biosensing performance. For example for pH sensing or detection of lipids, which is often a challenge. @solvationsci.bsky.social @ruhr-uni-bochum.de tinyurl.com/3kyy3zu6
