Why does the United States not celebrate May Day?

In the United States, Labor Day predates May Day. The first Labor Day, September 5, 1882, was marked by a parade of 10,000 workers in New York City.

In 1894 the widespread railroad workers’ strike (Pullman Strike) and a series of unemployed workers’ riots in Cleveland resulted in Pres. Grover Cleveland’s proposal of a national public holiday in recognition of workers. For this purpose, May Day and Labor Day were the two most likely options. Although May Day seemed viable, it was also closely associated with workers’ riots, including the Haymarket Affair—a violent confrontation between workers and police. The incident involving labor activists and anarchists became linked with radical politics such as socialism and anarchism, which made May 1 politically sensitive. Thus, Labor Day was chosen as a federal public holiday in the United States.

this group is not a joke. the JDL goes back many years and was likely responsible for the assassination of Alex Odeh in 1986.

this is not accurate. no students were assaulted for refusing to disavow zionism nor were the encampments ever preventing anyone from entering buildings. these claims were promoted by Zionist groups and individuals without evidence. however, protesters were repeatedly assaulted by pro-Israel groups.

this adl, which also defended Musk after he visited Israel for PR purposes, after he posted tweets supporting the great replacement theory. the adl completely forgave him and no longer even mentions it, even though he hasn't stopped being openly antisemitic on X or anywhere else.
