Snorkeling at a fully alive coral reef today - another childhood dream come true!!

Jungle, moss, ferns and tropical waterfalls - today’s hike was one of my favorites!

View of a green mountainside with a narrow but very high waterfall

Until today I had no idea a solar halo is a thing that exists. We saw one during our hike at Piton de la Fournaise and it took me a few moments to understand that it’s just an optical phenomenon, not aliens attacking or something like that

A rather eclectic collection and it nicely shows how I played old games most of the time, because I never had an up to date console or PC until I got the XBox Series X in 2021 (and then I played early 2010s stuff like DA too…) #My9Games

Today consisted mainly of lava in all shapes and forms

Hiking is more fun when you’re not starting with the descent into the valley so you have to climb all the way up again, but we made it down to La Chapelle and back again. 8km, 800m in height + fun with boulders in the riverbed

An amazing view of a tropical mountainscape under bright blue skies

Holding my legs until a cool mountain pool

The plan for today was a calm day at the beach - and then we ended up on mountain somehow

So we had Dodo beer, dipped our feet in the Indian Ocean, saw shark warning and interesting birds and tried to speak some French - not bad after a night with less than an hour of sleep

Today was DnD day and my Sorcerer might have made a few Very Unwise decisions aka. a deal with a devil that didn’t even succeed in bringing his dead friend back

There‘s so much other stuff on my TBR, but it’s September and I have imminent travel plans and I’m listening to a few very specific metal bands and now I really want to reread the Lord of the Rings again!

Went to the gym, then wrote 1100 words again (for a possible short story project), will try to ignore the news and the real world for as long as possible today

090

krachstelze @krachstelze.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

Wrote 1000 fresh words within an hour this afternoon (part of the edits is writing a few new chapters from scratch) - apparently I can still do it?

Immerhin Entwarnung.

There we go again with the insomnia… But at least I spent all those hours lying awake thinking about an intricate backstory for the D&D characters I’ve been playing for over four years so …yay?

D&D day today - deep in the depths of Avernus, including a nerve-wrecking fight at the edge of the river Styx and a tragic, unexpected death! Maybe the DM’s assistant had a furry paw in it and wanted to make it extra dramatic

Okay, so I finally reached that part of my novel edits where I went right back to the beginning to rework everything at the beginning of the year. So now I’m starting with the part that’s still the wild chaotic first draft - this is going to be …fun?

Finally a proper writing day again!

060

krachstelze @krachstelze.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

The joys of editing - trying to trim down a 4k chapter into something readable (and yes, I should talk more about writing here, but I’m still in the middle of working through draft 2 and most of the time it’s rather boring)
