Winter of ‘82-83 was brutal for rain. I was just starting my pj career in Lake County and we had major disruptions all around the lake. Mudslides which resulted in deaths, hwy 20 washed out east of the Oaks, trailer parks underwater for days.

Out of a total of 571 RAWS sites in NorCal, 57 stations are nearly at red flag criteria, while another 12, below, in the Mayacamas Mountains, are in RF criteria. The fuel moistures are very high, so fire threat is very low. Still, offshore wind is an equalizer of sorts.
