That is an excellent point! Any period of time where women had to or were allowed to step up & be counted, was always followed by a slump in the culture’s definition of their self-worth.

I agree. Stanwyck is always good, but the premise is ridiculous. Why is she standing in the rain dressed like a homeless person looking in a window at her grown daughter that she gave up? A grown daughter!!! I love melodramas, but this one is plain dumb.

Birnam reminds me of my Grampa who was drunk everyday of his life. Drunk he was sweet, eloquent, funny as hell, all the while telling me, a little kid, that he didn’t need the booze, just needed to know he had it in his hip flask. Poor old Pops. #TheNoirCollective #TheLostWeekend
