My life would get so much easier if Paxil would agree to use the dog door.

The entire family is caught up on flu and Covid vaccines now. For those in the Seattle area, Katterman’s pharmacy is the place to go. They have all three flavors of Covid vax for adults, the kid dose, and the flu options.

In case you’ve ever wondered what the inside of a La Marzocco portafilter handle looks like. This one died coming free of the portafilter head.

I love the Apple TV as a media player because it doesn't have ads. Unfortunately, I can't get my remote to behave reliably so I made my own. I bought a reTerminal Sticky and turned it into a remote. More details here: github.com/CitizenRacer...

Meet Paxil our newest addition. He desperately wants to play with Lexapro but apparently Lexapro isn’t interested in younger men.

In prep for Paxil coming I’ve setup a crate. These Tapo cameras are $18 and work great. I’ve disabled internet access for them cuz I’m not crazy. They plug into the Unifi ecosystem too. Next up is a camera for the play pen.

So I’m in a doctors waiting room and a woman starts playing music on her phone. I ask her if she has headphones and she says “no” and I ask her “do we all need to listen to your phone?” And she says “no but do you have to be an asshole about it?” Do not use speakerphone in public.

Seattle is a tough city to be into bbq and smoking meats. There isn’t a single artisanal charcoal supply house in the area.

Halloween is approaching. A friendly reminder that a 1.1qt Stanley thermos will hold a bottle of wine + the remainder of the bottle you poured into two yeti wine tumblers. Also if it's too cold for wine, baileys and hot chocolate will also keep well in this combo. amzn.to/4o7kmGu amzn.to/4hxlTTS

I enjoy owning a laser.
Two coins made of brass engraved by a laser. The left coin says “no dieu ni maître” and has a dove escaping a broken cage.

The right coin has a broken crown and says “no gods no masters”

Driving in Ireland is a wild experience. Never mind the fact you have to drive on the left. Even without that it would be wild. The roads are extremely narrow, what would be a one lane road in the us is two lanes in opposite direction. People park in the road and you just drive around their cars.

There are two kinds of travelers. Get to the airport just in time to walk into the boarding line, and the “time is my friend “ type. I’m the latter. Travel days are for me. Time in the lounge. Time alone on the plane. I’d be happy going the whole day not talking to anyone.

I made my son a brass coin. The laser etched it out of a brass blank. Then I ran it through a magnetic polisher and aged it with “Brass Black”. He loved it. Now he wants to make other coins.

Pro tip: when branding wood, it’s much better to get the wood wet first. It results in a crisper brand. Also don’t leave the brand on the wood too long or press down too hard. Not necessary.
Brand on the left is dry. Brand on the left was done wet. Wood is walnut. A maple cutting board I’m making with a very crisp brand. A second maple cutting board. The brand is a 3” ‘k’ in a circle. Close up of the branding iron.
