An image generated using Canva AI with this prompt: "An image showing crossborder connections between people and documents."
Canva provides this description of the image: "A vibrant, conceptual illustration depicting the flow of information and human connection across digital and physical borders. Diverse individuals are shown exchanging and interacting with glowing digital documents, represented by abstract, interconnected lines of light and data. The style is modern and clean, with a color palette emphasizing blues, greens, and golds to signify communication and progress. The layout is dynamic, suggesting movement and interconnectedness, with a medium shot framing to capture the essence of global collaboration."

My parents spent their honeymoon near Vejle, Denmark. They used to camp in a tent there, but decided to get a cabin for the honeymoon. To me, it's a bit odd to go camping on a honeymoon, but they had friends there and wanted to celebrate with them, too. #Honeymoon #FamilyHistory #Genealogy

I have decided to spend this year's Family History Month digging deeper into my dad's life, particularly pre-marriage. Basic info: Name: Keld Dræby Kottal Born 24 Oct. 1947 in Odense, Denmark. Married 1970, separated 1980. Died 23 May 2022 in Odense. #FamilyHistoryMonth #Genealogy #FamilyHistory
Portrait of my dad with his head slightly tilted. He has thick, dark hair. He is wearing square glasses, a black jacket, and a yellow or light brown shirt with a floral pattern. It was probably taken in the 1970s.

Today I am examining wage books from the Danish navy from 1745 to 1760. I was happy to see that the 1760 book has a name index. If you can read it, you might wonder why it is sorted by first names. That was common practice due to the use of patronymic surnames. #genealogy #familyhistory #Denmark
A page spread in an old book with brown - rather worn - ribbons to tie the cover of the book. The left-hand page is blank. The right-hand page has penned handwriting on it. It is an index of names sorted by company number. It is written in Gothic handwriting.

Another Dane with an interest in #history has bought this notebook at a market. The cover says "Notes" so we assume it's of English origin. The pages are like blackboards: The user writes with chalk, and the text can be deleted. My fellow Dane requests more info about such notebooks.

A2 #genchat I like to use topographical maps such as those from Videnskabernes Selskab (Denmark). For instance, this one of Southern Funen shows its proximity to Schleswig and helps us understand trade and migration routes. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory api.dataforsyningen.dk/rest/arkivko...

I love using maps. I have a historical atlas (in Danish), which tells history via maps, such as this one showing the European colonization of North America until 1775. (I can only share a snippet as fair use because the book is still protected by copyright.) #genealogy #OldMaps
Snippet of a map from a Danish atlas. Sections of land are colored differently to display the European colonization of the American continent until 1775. Arrows away from land show export routes, such as fur from Quebec to Northern Europe.

What a treasure I handled today when I was back at the Danish National Archives for the first time this year! This book contains financial accounts for the poor funds distributed in three Danish parishes at the island Lolland in 1768-1827. #Genealogy #Denmark #OldBooks #FamilyHistory
Danish government book from 1768. Bound in brown leather with a golden printed title on the cover. Leather laces on the side to bind the front and back of the cover together.
