..because i was in a difficult place with myself. it helped me acknowledge that. it gave me something i wanted to.. "get better" for. this comic to me, provides a type of "unconditional love" that i give to myself, through the creation of it.. to be flawed, ugly, stupid, immature.. ect.. to grow.

I mean, im able to keep going and the motivation is half the battle with comics NGL. ffak has trained me in my endurance and im so thankful that i dont care to draw .. most things and my stories can function perfectly well with a lot less than you'd imagine. often better too. less can be more!

and by participating in that creative space, i realize again and again how much of that is bullshit. I can laugh at it and move on and not take it(and myself) so seriously.. Which then ultimately makes me a better artist, i think.

whenever i close the walls around myself and pretend i have this.. moral obligation to become better & better of an artist to prove to some metaphorical parent-audience surrogate, ffak will just.. be so OUTSIDE of those perimeters that it doesnt matter measuring to them anymore.

however with FFAK im just like.. eh its a ffak page. who even gives a fuck? it doesnt have to be anything. i would still be drawing something, right? it feels almost like a hypnosis where i just ... am 24 again and have total freedom to invent myself from scratch or knock it all down if i need to.

having a comic or a story that isn't up to some level of sophistication of presentation or whatever it is doesnt make you inferior as an artist. i view FFAK as a story that's been built to serve me long-term.. which is why it still exists. if it doesnt, it wont be here. for now it is because its fun

like .. if i ever end up hitting a dead end or corner in something im making, literally nothing pulls me back to reality that im always going to be a student of art and storytelling than FFAK. it has all my flaws, my history, my tropes, my bad spelling, ect.. i cant "hide" from that and i shouldnt.

however with FFAK .. as the lesson that has endured to me since it has been started, that i re-learn again and again.. is that it is ok to just do it as you are and not be good at it. or maybe never be! it is about having fun drawing and making something. that's really all it is in the end.

it's hard to say something about FFAK i haven't said before.. but.. i always laugh at it being kind of the antithesis of so much "comic advice." I think people get very psychologically afraid of long-format comics for a lot of reasons, both making or being fans of them.
