Not autistic. Know some autistic people. Long ago concluded we could use more, not less, people who see the world through a different lens.

Unfortunately, it will be successful. It’s not artists or people educated on the impact of AI who will go to this movie. It’s kids who will love the cute animated characters and will drag their too-busy-to-care parents along. With such a low cost, it’s guaranteed to be profitable.

I trust everything will work out because I have faith in God’s plan. In the meantime, I’ll do what I can to make a positive dent in the world while I’m here.

Enough people voted for him. I know the vast majority of my community, and my church, did. I wonder if people who don’t live in red areas don’t realize how popular this guy is in places. Also- I live in Indiana, where many people vote red just because they can’t fathom voting for liberals.

Bought our first ev a month ago (Ford Mustang Mach E). We absolutely love it. No gas stations and a 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds. We’re never going back.

Trying something new- Left side, added ~1/4 inch chunky perlite to top of good soil, dropped in a bunch of arugula seeds, and then watered with higher pressure (to bury seeds). Fabric pot on top of bottom-up self-watering system. Now we see what happens… 🌱

Always an option. I’ve been fortunate to spend time in a number of other countries. Liked most of them- even fell in love with a few. None could offer the opportunities that the US does. We have our problems- current politics and 2-party system included, but still a wonderful place to live.

Reality is we have a two party system. You can vote for one of them, or you can just sit aside and complain. Good luck with actually making change with that.

I’ll take it over the alternative.

Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 28/03/2025
Simple only in the fact that it is entirely fantastical. Your “alternative” would require power, and the opposition party has none. Good luck though.

Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 20/03/2025
That’s one opinion. Maybe I am cynical, but you will see the entire Democratic Party continue to adopt a similar approach to this. I’ve sat in enough political strategy meetings to know that Newsom is the tip of the spear for a party-wide pivot. In 2026, we’ll all find out if it is effective.

Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
I will add- this is just my opinion why we’re seeing a shift among the larger dem party. I’m not a political expert, and my opinion is worth about as much as a grain of sand. I can understand why the party and some of its leaders (like Newsom) are stepping away from trying to defend everything.

During his initial campaign, Obama said he was against same-sex marriage because the country wasn’t ready for an affirming president and he and his campaign knew it. He then went on to be a champion of LGBT rights and even marriage. He knew how to pick his battles to win the bigger war.

Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
I believe a lot more about people rallying to protect the critical areas where we have a hope of winning due to stronger political support (ex. Trans healthcare) will protect more LGBT rights than spending endless political capital on issues with almost zero political support (trans HS sports team).
010
Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
It’s getting worse. While people here are bickering about how important choice of HS sports team are, trans people are losing their rights to healthcare and getting booted from the military. Sometimes, we have to chose our battles- and that choice is always a bitter one.

Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
I started responding- then got sidetracked. Your anger and scorn are fair. No should have to feel attacked for who they are. It is, absolutely, unfair. I will point out- I don’t believe anyone is saying here that trans people have too many rights.
000
Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
That a misread. The entire point is to prevent conservatives from continuing to erode those critical LGBT rights (healthcare, equal employment), it may be necessary to focus entirely on those issues (which also have broader support) than waste limited political capital on HS sports teams.

Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 18/03/2025
I think we’re all better off- including the LGBT community, because Obama read the room in 2008, chose to say he opposed gay marriage, and won the election. The only value in a political party is to win elections. If Dems can’t do that, none of the rest of this matters.

That’s not at all what I’m saying. I’m simply among these voices in the party- “All of this is in line with a kind of cultural war retrenchment for which the party’s most pragmatic voices are practically pleading.” www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

Moderate Dems message to progressives: We’re not backing down
A string of special elections and some polling show the party might be getting pulled to the middle.

U.S. Political Ideology Steady; Conservatives, Moderates Tie
None of the major political events of recent years has altered where Americans place themselves on the ideological spectrum from liberal to conservative.

Good question. Probably a pie graph of answers, from a colonial history of “rugged individualism” to conservatives success in the modern media environment. Why do you think the nation tends to lean right?

It’s the opposing side of the Trump cult. Either they are… (1) so ideologically siloed as to believe they have popular support or can win over the electorate on this topic, or (2) too uneducated on electoral politics to understand that without doing so, conservatives will continue to gain power.

They are still trying to form a battle line in a fight over HS Sports when the frontline of the war has moved to healthcare and equal employment… with ground still being lost. This point of view is damaging our ability to hold the line on LGBT rights where it’s going to matter most.

Democrats are trying to find a voice that is heard by the middle voters (who are largely opposed to things like trans HS sports). …Trying to find, or workshop, a message that works post-election disaster. They have a few years to get it right- Newsom will be a 2028 contender.

Indoor Garden Guy @koryk.bsky.social · 16/03/2025
You’re going to get a ton of hateful replies for the sin of being pragmatic about winning power back in a predominantly right-leaning country. In the meantime, conservatives will take critical rights away from the LGBT community far beyond high school sports teams as dems lose over and over.
