Since moving from Toronto back to the UK, I’ve not been as inundated with how That Baseball Team named for light blue corvids have been doing. So, how’s their run towards playoffs going?

Wow. Premier Inn wifi is a bit shit. No, actually it’s a lot shit. Only 1Mbps down? I think I’ve had plastic cups with taught string faster than this.

There seems to be a constant ‘background’ power drain of about 470W in this house, and I’m trying to figure out exactly what’s causing it. I’ve got about 8 power monitoring smart plugs coming so I can put them on the major appliances and a couple of other outlets.

I don’t suppose there are any folks down in the SouthEast of the UK that follow me (ideally mutuals) that are into attending Ren Faires? I’ve got a ticket to the England’s Medieval Festival (E Grinstead) on Aug 29, and Athra would love a spotter/camera person to join on his adventures down there!

I managed to really break my mom today with a rather terrible joke while we were waiting at the hospital today. She said that earlier in the day my brother had remarked on that the nurses who deal with catheters would have to be really well paid. 1/

… and possibly a few more days after that. It’s my mom’s birthday on Saturday, and I get the feeling this is going to put spoilers on that for her. I also think that we’re approaching the time that the live-in care service we have for my dad will be enough, and he go into a … 4/

… this resulted in an ambulance call out (thankfully emergency call so it was relative quick) and now my mom and brother are down with him the emergency room. I’ll be heading down for there in about an hour to relieve my brother. Certainly seems that my dad will spend tonight in hospital… 3/

This weekend has sadly not gone according to plan, as my dad has had another couple of big health issues. He’s 87, worsening dementia, and found out about 7 weeks ago he’s got some form of bladder cancer. This is causing recurring UTIs until we can get him in for an op to remove … 1/

This wasn’t how I envisioned my first summer back in the UK, compared to Toronto to go. Days at or above 30ºC: Toronto: 5 (Jul), 0 (Aug) [source: ec.gc.ca] London: 7 (Jul), 5 (Aug) [source: wunderground, redhill station] I miss the A/C back in my Toronto condo ;p

Well, not Khajiiting at that Fairy Festival. It’s extremely hot there, and also family drama is going on at home with my dad. My mom was okay with me going, but am being guilt-tripped by others. So after getting to the festival, basically stopped for bathroom break, and turned around for home. :P

Took my #Jedi griffin, Qesnel, out to the #FestivalOfTheForce at the Kent Events Centre today. Smallish event (perhaps? Not sure on event sizes in the UK yet), but was good to bring him out. Met and talked with a couple of people; Tim Rose and Ailsa Berk. #Fursuit #Cosplay
