I almost went this summer!! Drove by - spent a few days in Custer and decided on the needles hwy instead of those caves. No regrets there, but also, so cool! The Inner Space caverns in TX are also super cool, if you are nearby.

They did; lol there was a lot of local discourse about it since location is so central to the novel, it was literally why he wrote it, wanted his sons to really know the Salinas valley. But also, there is local awareness of why filming there was going to be a challenge and unlikely.

So. I am admittedly not the best at measurements when ordering things. And in this case, I was high on storage possibilities and no food. Yeah. I am 5’6”, so not short. I now need a step-stool to get into bed. 18 caught me at the exact moment I realized I done fucked up. But it is funny as hell.
