You can't copy and paste atoms, but you can data. Moving atoms is many, many, many orders of magnitude harder than moving bits. This is why tech has so much leverage.

Alex Komoroske @komorama.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Chat is too narrow a UX for serendipity. There’s a single channel of attention, with no peripheral vision. Peripheral vision is necessary for serendipity.

Alex Komoroske @komorama.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Early agent use cases are “doing what you already do, but more efficiently.” But what about taking on the things you never would have tried? It's the difference between a pain-killer and a vitamin.

Agents are the apotheosis of aggregation. Who your agent actually works for starts to matter. stratechery.com/2026/apps-ag...

Apps, Agents, and Aggregation

Agents are the ultimate Aggregators; they reveal apps as a means, not an ends, and providing them is tech’s biggest prize.

Here's a new flavor of prompt injection: using agents to target other agents that have more relaxed guardrails. The trust model from the 90s was not designed for AI. arstechnica.com/security/202...

MCP for agent-to-agent comms may be the riskiest protocol you've never heard of

Trust gaps in the new protocol spread malicious prompts from one agent to another.

LLMs make it possible to create bespoke, perfectly situated software that fits into the nooks and crannies of our lives, but it will require a fundamentally different trust model. I had a fun talk with my friend Florian Maganza: practicalpolymath.substack.com/p/infinite-s...

Alex Komoroske @komorama.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

Your perfectly planned itinerary is bits, but your delayed flight to New York is atoms. Your data is only useful if it can keep up with your reality. Where bits meet atoms is the edge between theory and practice. That's where all the challenge lies... and all the opportunity.

Alex Komoroske @komorama.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Every generation has a different baseline level of “what’s in the details.” Which details are worth knowing is set by whatever they learned early in their career. Technology pulls us up the ladder of abstraction.

The default architecture for multi-user agentic software today is for everyone's agents to talk. You're effectively letting everyone you interact with prompt inject your agent. That's a high trust bar to clear for collaborators!

AI is as useful as the context it can see & tools it can use. Two bad options: agents too siloed to be helpful or agents you trust with reckless abandon. This dilemma is an artifact of a security paradigm from the 90s. I think it’s overdue for an update. commonfabric.com/notes/invert...

2/ The walled gardens of apps cost the most where our lives intersect with others’. We’re creating systems that mold around the contours of people’s real lives and relationships. And that requires a new trust model.
