A flying buzzard seen from the side, it’s head is a tilted a tiny bit as if it’s glancing at the camera, the beak is chubby, fairly small and light yellow, the wing is lifted showing off a brown spotted inside, a broad white streak and then the dark border of the wing, the base of the tail is light but the tail is dark, the sky behind is a very bright blue.

Just read an article and after half the text the font got gradually harder to read. At first I blamed my eyes. Is my eyesight really so bad that everything is slightly blurry now? Then I zoomed in. Wtf?

Met a group of six long-tailed tits two days ago when the sun was out. I always hear them before I see them. And their sound, the tsirr tsirr, makes me smile.

A small white fluffy bird with a very long dark tail, a small black beak and a dark peppercorn eye is perched on a naked branch, the sky in the background is very blue.

The closest I’ve ever been to a hobby! 😲 At a lake in the middle of a forest. This young one was catching dragonflies, and they were really good at it too! As soon as they catched one it picked off the wings and devoured the insect, in flight, not stopping.

A dark almost silhouette like young hobby, in flight, the dark wings with white edges are down and the big eye is gleaming when it passes against a very blue sky.

Got a lifer today! ❌ A pectoral sandpiper. I wish I had a photo but to be fair it was so far away so I could only see it ok via another persons scope. Here’s a photo of the area. Yes, it’s that spot that I keep visiting even though it’s not nearby. It’s so good.

Still very happy with the day and I got some good help from some good birders who pointed out a few things for me. Notable species for me was: a young spotted crake, greenshank, curlew sandpiper, temminck’s stint, hobby, white-tailed eagle, osprey, and lots of whinchats!

Was looking for a bluethroat when I met this whinchat. It was extremely active and was both singing and making the teck-teck sound. Ps. If you have never heard a whinchat sing in the middle of a summer night you have something to look forward too!

A small bird perched on a small branch full of green leaves, they have a chestnut-colored chest and a dark head with a white panel above the eye and under the cheek, it’s looking to the side as if it’s listening for something.

Good news! Yr, the oldest of the osprey chicks, took a long flight today. As far as I know the first time she has left the nest. So impressive! Here’s the landing.

Ok, I think I need to post this birb as well. When I spotted it I was searching for the longspur and I was so into it so I thought for sure this was a male lapland longspur. 🙈

A reed bunting, a male with dark head, white collar and brown streaked back, they’re perched in a bush full of light green leaves and they have a small insect in the beak.

I think I caught an icterine warbler on camera. Yes? Have had this bird nearby numerous times but it’s really good at being heard but not seen.

A small warbler with light yellow chest and olive green upper head which is turned to the right, beak is dark on top but light below, they’re perched on what appears to be a dead branch and there is a lot of greenery behind.

Been meeting a lot of redshanks lately. They’re really fierce birds. I’ve seen them attack gulls, who of course is a real threat. But I also saw one attacking a tiny meadow pipit, just cause it caught an insect a bit too close to their chick who was foraging. A bit excessive maybe. 😅

A redshank on top of a light stone keeping watch over the area, bright red legs, light chest full of small streaks and a brown back full of dark spots, beak is dark but red at the root.

Got a lifer today! The most gentle little girl, called várretsihtse on sámi. 🧡🖤

A small bunting is standing on top of livhen and small green leaves, they have a white fluffy chest, brown neck, a dark cap, a beige patch with dark edges on the cheek and a yellow beak, they look really kind, like it would like to do something nice for you.

Oh, and one of the parents. (Who I didn’t know were a parent here.) Decided to check me out for like three seconds. This is in the lake that is right next to the small lake with the chicks. I think this might be the closest I’ve ever been to a loon.

A black-throated loon seen from the side, back is low in the water, dark with white spots, throat and head is matte grey with white thin stripes mirrored in the water, beak is dark and there are visible drops of water on the head.

I saw two loon chicks this morning! Also got a mosquito bite on my eyelid so I’m looking all weird. But I guess worth it? This was were I spotted them.
