When starting, I wasn't sure I'd be able to get through Mina the Hollower, but I did and it very quickly cemented itself as my game of the year. The game was really fun throughout the whole journey, loved it. Definitely an instant classic.

Finally, the story, while nothing groundbreaking, was pretty unique for a Pokemon game. I liked that it had a consistent theme and recurring characters, neither of which are things you see that often in Pokemon. It ended on a satisfying note and I don't have any complaints with it as a whole. (Fin)

The active battle system is also just super fun, it feels like a natural evolution of Pokemon combat and rewards experimentation and strategies just not possible in the rest of the series. There's more reason to choose a move than just type and power and I think that's cool. Important, even. (3)

In a time where we're constantly getting these huge, empty open worlds, Lumiose's compactness and use of space was really refreshing, to the point it's probably my favourite open world in a video game, at least from a gameplay standpoint. (2)

I actually really liked Pokemon Legends Z-A. Thought it was the best Pokemon game we've got in years. Was a bit rough visually but gameplay wise it was maybe the most fun I've ever had with a Pokemon game? (1)

Aside from the monotype dens, I found the levels to be rather uninteresting, just straight pathways between Salmonid arenas with very little in the way of creative setups. And the music, while perfectly fine, just didn't capture the weirdness of Splatoon music to me.

As a singleplayer game, Splatoon Raiders definitely wasn't as fun for me as Alterna or Side Order, but as a multiplayer game I enjoy it much more than Splatoon 3's battles or Salmon Run.

feels like a guy you'd see in mario & luigi running a racing minigame that used super mario kart blocks and you'd have to play an easy version of it once for the plot but otherwise it only nets you gear with an effect that makes it more for challenge runs
